The behind the scenes for that cute aggression scene on the roof are friggin adorable. You should watch if you get a chance.

Yes it is school 2013

Stephanie Morales

Hi what was the name of the original. I know it reminded me of a school series and the Internet said it's a copy of school 2013 but it's been 4 years since I watched that. I'm curious so please let me know, thanks.

1:09:50. the korean one was going to be BL, but because of Korea's conservative view, they made it into bromance. But yeah the original was going to be BL

Stephanie Morales

Correct, they both were I think 2 years older.

Another straight episode 🤔 lol Poor Miss Jan doesn’t get paid enough for the emotional labour she takes on. Javi’s psychic powers lmao

The principal could’ve just given Cable’s spot to Peeta after he said he didn’t want to do it but I guess she must hate her son 🙄

Regarding Javis comment at 55 min. Yes, high school stundents but I think they said a few times in the first episodes that because of the incidents Saint and Shin are both at least 1 year but maybe up to 3 years older than everone else, right? that's why no one really knows who they were regarding Tsunami, etc., too.

Their relationship in the original wasn’t as intense as here, but I think even with that one, people were questioning if there was more between the characters that went beyond friendship. Even the actors of the original themselves were aware of that elephant. And I agree, I think given the time we are in and Gmmtv being Gmmtv, they were pushing that limit even more. But the original had it’s questionable moments and angst too😭

I agree. I feel like Wu will probably go the same route. However, knowing how fandoms work, if we get more of the same in terms of the queer subtext, a lot of people will soon get tired of it and turn on the project, as its happened with a lot of other shows. I've already seen people say they hope it's not the same, but they've already confirmed it is, so it'll be interesting to see how they make it different. Still, I'm eating it up, but there's definitely a discussion to be had as to how this portrays a very clear queer relationship in the guise of a friendship.

ken’s involvement with jeng due to debt has been mentioned a few times already, but i don’t remember if the exact nature of the debt was ever clarified. they are tied to the gang because of ken's debt tho not just for fun. yes to the queer subtext without fully going there conversation!! the discussion around whether this is queerbaiting, and the impact of branding them as "GMMTV’s first bromance pair," is really interesting to me. i wish there was more nuanced discussion about it, but the bl fandom isn’t great at that. since high school frenemy is based on school 2013, i wonder if copyright restrictions would've even allowed them to make it full bl. they might have needed to keep certain elements intact to retain the rights. but also given how GMMTV markets its pairs and shows, is their deliberate emphasis on the queer subtext and pushing sky nani as a bromance pairing going forward problematic? i could see GMMTV riding hsf’s success and playing it safe with wu, making it another friendship series with a similar vibe since they know it works for sky and nani and the project was whipped up so last minute. it’s also possible that the genre will change over the next year, it's also possible that sky and nani are the ones that don't want to do bl idk i just worry that wu will be another show filled with queer subtext but never fully commit. especially knowing the company behind it, that does feel a bit icky and queer-baity. at the same time you could argue portraying male friendship like this is important too but i mean... the queer coding is undeniable to me. again especially knowing the company producing it and the marketing going on outside the show it's a little problematic... and i worry for wu and the reception skynani will have going forward if they don't change things.

I truly need a Skynani BL ✋😖

They dropped the MV for Promise on this episode that's why we heard it a lot, they made us wait for it after teasing us with the outro! The original version was from 2013, it was indeed meant to be a BL but they had to change the script. So finally it focused more on the teachers and made it to friendship. I love how Gmmtv did this, a step above friendship without crossing the line ✨ Gmmtv is also pretty good with bromance, look at the Gifted, Midnight Museum and Peaceful property those are better than most of the BL shows they produce. But Highschool Frenemy took bromance to a hole new level 🤭

Annabel ~ Cuteness is happiness 🥰

If they ever decide to put SKYNANI in an actual BL, people will go insane. I'm people.

Maeum

The original series is not BL But GMMTV adjusted it to be Bromance and more romantic (You can see from the pilot trailer that Shin's character was almost fighting more and there was no bromance moments at all)

wiruj somsopon

You said it all perfectly

Angie

I totally agree with you ,i watched the original and felt like you, but with this one they crossed the line because these two are so in love . They just don’t kiss that’s all. Sky and nani are amazing

It's my favourite episode, really. Because after all the conflicts between the two of them, we are now completely a couple. We're literally living in the honeymoon period of two lovers. I'm melting. I'm literally melting. I've said it a million times before, but this show is definitely not a bromance. As someone who watched the original series, I can say that it was definitely not this romantic. But in the original, the chemistry between the main couple was very good and there were moments that made you feel like the bond between them was more than just two best friends. There are even interviews in which the leads say that the two characters behave like separated ex-lovers. I always thought the scriptwriter had a very different purpose in writing this bromance. In 2013 Korea, I believe they hid the romantic bond between the characters behind the word friendship because they couldn't openly shoot bl. When adapting this series, Thailand remained faithful to the genre of the original work, but made it gayer as much as possible. Because actually everyone is aware. Although these two friends have not yet crossed the border of friendship, it is obvious that they will become a couple in the future. Even now they are like a couple. The love and bond they feel for each other cannot be felt by anyone else. It is as if we are watching two people who have not yet fully realised that they are in love. If there was a second season, we'd definitely be watching two university lovers. Still, the series was good enough as it was. I saw the romance that I could not see in most bl series in this series. I wish every bl could be this romantic. Of course, another reason why the series impresses us so much is the amazing acting. SkyNani's chemistry knocked me out. I bow to whoever brought them together. I also thank the director for giving them the freedom to improvise. I also appreciate how comfortable they are with each other and how easily they can adapt to each other. Each actor has their own unique acting language and it seems that SkyNani's acting communicates beautifully with each other. I can't wait to watch them in other projects. Anyway, as a result, episode 12 was great. Thank you for the reaction. It was fun watching you as always.🩷
