This was a great episode. I love how the sensei is shown several times just listening and reflecting on what Miyata is saying, like reexamining stuff, but at the same time he is actively pursuing him in a very mature way, he's not playing games or being coy about it

He clearly mentions that Miyata is sleeping with Iwanaga for the job and that's why Miyata is responding with anger, telling him not to even joke about it.

Btw, I think you may have missed the dialogue about the bet, it's super quick - but Miyata found out that Iwanaga had made a bet with another friend on whether Miyata would show up for their elopement. So that plus the fact that Iwanaga was of higher status at school made him think that Iwanaga had just been playing with him the whole time.
