I am also on episode 3 and right now my theory is that Tan, the one who was with Top when he "disappeared" is probably related in some way to "Non", barcode's character, and he joined this friend group specifically to avenge him. Maybe the "masked murderer" is someone he knows and is working with and they are trying to obtain that incriminating hard disk or something.
