Random theory that popped into my head: Doc is the naga who wants to kill Phaya. I think Doc, Tharn, and Phaya had some sort of love triangle in their past life. In this life, Phaya "took" Tharn from Doc/Naga. I have absolutely no evidence other than the Doc seeming sus and Phaya finding the Doc familiar (maybe from a past life?). Idk.
