This is the episode that starts to show how caring and of a sweet talker Khun Yai is, and considering that he's just supposed to be 18 years old in this lifetime. No, they're not parallel universe but descendants or reincarnations. Khun Yai in this period is actually the seconde generation of Yai. He, too, had unexplained memory of Jom that he still doesn't quite understand, and this is because way back more in ancient times, the first version of Yai, who is a Captain, has already met and fallen deeply in love with Jom. And that was the Yai version that you all saw in the first episode. The one who saved Jom underwater. The one with tattoos and mustache. 😊
