When they were quizzing in the kitchen, Karev asked “What is the most frequent cause of diarrhea in hospital patients?” Cristina’s answer was “Rotavirus” not "Coronavirus". Not the same thing. Having said that, Coronavirus is not new. Doctors have been studying it since 1960. Although it has likely been infecting humans for centuries. There have been deadly outbreaks repeatedly, so much so that they started giving the different strains names, MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV, Coronavirus 19, etc. I said same thing Shan, when Meredith's dad said his wife was “All I had.” Dude, your daughter is right behind you. Plus she said the other daughter was in the car. The other interns taking the exam were most likely interns from other departments in the hospital other than surgical. That’s why we never see them. Holy crap, that is Alex from Supergirl. You and your memory for faces. She looks so young here I didn't recognize her. But once you said it I saw it immediately.
