I worked as a cashier in a grocery store & we were also required to stand. we had a slide out shelf meant to put bags on should we need it & some of the cashiers would pull them out & sit when there were no customers. The managers would chastise us if the saw us I assume now with far more disability assistance laws they would probably have to allow sitting in some situations.

Plus Torchwood seems to have powerful government influence, I'm sure they could have gotten her a license since they knew she could fly a plane. If nothing else, all she had to do was fill out an application and take her written and practical exam. Should only take a couple days. She should have said to the other 2 she was going to try and go back. They would have probably liked to try it too. Might have saved that dudes life.

I also agree that it has never made sense to me that checkout people aren't allowed to sit down in Australia. What i love in this episode is that Jack finds someone to relate to. Then it's just ends so heartbreaking. Yeah, Gwen doesn't do the best job at looking after Emma at the club. But i do feel a little bad for Gwen trying so hard to balance everything. Rhys's reaction does annoy me, he yells for no reason. Yeah, it's not a good message.

In England all Woolworths stores closed and went out of business years ago, I remember shopping there as a kid it had everything you could want from pick n mix to the latest cds. I used to work as a cashier for a large supermarket chain and they made us stand up at the tills because they said we were more efficient on our feet than sitting down. Back when plastic bags were free and cigarettes came in colourful packets… anyways back to the episode, there is no antagonist in this episode. Ps. Love the hair
