It's a VERY careful procedure involving bending over in front of the Stargate and dialing. You end up vortex clean.

That comment made me think about people and Covid Which in turn made me think about toilet paper ....... How do people wipe their asses onboard Destiny?

Although Rush's character and the entire tone of the show is very different from what we've in Stargate previously, I will say Robert Carlyle does a very good job of making you feel like he's been part of this universe (no pun intended) for a long time. He even said "Goa'uld" correctly the first time he said it, ha!

You make a good point Shan. One person gets sick and passes out, then someone else sees it, gets scared and faints. Now everyone thinks you have same thing, Nope, just one sick dude and one wimp.

Regarding your question on how Robert Carlyle prepared for the role, if it was the same as with Joe Flanigan where he didn't know anything about it or if he knew what the show was about, There was an interview with Robert Carlyle back during the time Season 1 was airing where he stated that he knew of the existence of the original movie and the shows, he apparently didn't realise it (dunno how) but he had seen some episodes of SG-1 here or there, a realisation that came to him after the show runners sent him roughly 200 episodes worth of content to watch for potential research. His own actual research for the character came from taking some time to go out and talk to a bunch of scientists. He wanted to get into the mindset of what it was like to be them. He also asked all of them the question whether or not a mathematical problem had ever made them feel like they were about to have a mental breakdown. Apparently they all said yes, this made Carlyle feel excited about the role. This, and the fact that Brad Wright and Robert Cooper had apparently put Carlyle on a very short list of people they'd envisioned for the role of Rush and that they were more than happy to give Carlyle a bit of creative freedom with his portrayal of the role. So yeah, he knew more about the show (vaguelly at first) than Joe Flanigan did. Which ...I mean ...Every actor prepares for the role they play in their own way.
