My Aunt had to give birth to a still-born baby.
Yes, very sad.

Yeah you’re right with the comments on Addison. It’s interesting because she was initially presented as the bad guy, then as she stayed around it felt like it became a bit more of a grey area (no pun intended). And then now we have this new info she was probably more of the bad guy, but for me personally I already like her more than Derek so i’m less inclined to change my mind now…
Feels like a great idea to have half the hospital go on a camping trip all at the same time! I’m sure there are far more surgeons than we see usually though. But the chief of surgery, chief of neuro and chief of cardio all being out together still seems like a bad idea
I love the interactions between Meredith and Mark in this episode. I’m also quite impressed with how they handled the trans storyline, considering it was almost 20 years ago. I think there was definitely too much misgendering, but it was always corrected or at least presented as the person being in the wrong which i think is quite realistic.
I actually know a trans woman who prefers to be called husband rather than wife because that’s what she referred to herself as in her vows, so it’s possible that’s the case here too. But also gay marriage wasn’t legal back then (not until 2014 in Washington state where it’s set), so maybe that plays into the terminology too at least legally.
People are flawed and i enjoy that they’re willing to approach these complex situations. The only thing i think they could have done better is talking about her “turning back into a man” which as you pointed out, isn’t how that works. Maybe that’s just a relic of its time, but i do wish that aspect was handled better.
I only found this out recently, but men can also get breast cancer. It’s just that men have less breast tissue so it’s far less common (about 1% of all breast cancer cases). I found out because there was a donation drive for a breast cancer charity at a supermarket near me recently and they were pointing this out as their pitch to men. Depressing that they (probably accurately) thought that was the only way they could get men to donate, but that's another issue...
But back to Donna, the hormones would have been causing her breast tissue to grow and giving the cancer more space to grow. one of those “the thing saving your life is the thing killing you” stories that medical shows love to do.
I think this is the episode we’ve seen a lot more of Mark than we have previously. I really enjoy that he’s the one that’s the most accepting of Donna and i enjoyed the way he talked about how what he does isn’t just changing someone’s outward appearance. It’s funny to me that like Addison Mark came in very much as the bad guy and 4 or 5 episodes later I think he’s already probably my favourite male character in the show. That probably says more about how much i dislike the rest of them though honestly.
Quite funny how I mentioned Burke’s actor being homophobic and then this episode we get the trans storyline and more of Joe and Walter. That wasn’t planned at all!
I know this is intentional but my god Sydney annoys me so much. She does a great job of playing an obnoxiously overly happy person.
The story with Addison and the couple who lost their baby was heartbreaking. I can’t imagine having to go through something like that.

Oh wow, it had been a long time since i saw this episode, i didn't remember how much misgendering there was. it is extremely painful to watch.
I do love that Callie and Addie, two 'outsiders' in the group have bonded and started to become friends.
George pisses me off in this episode, he is so delusional about Callie, he's a dick about Burke, and he is such an ass to Alex, he doesn't even consider that not everyone has a dad to teach them the kind of stuff you need to know for Camping. Honestly. i do not blame Alex for how he responded, there are so many 'basic' things i don't know because of my childhood and it's been hard and painful when people treat me like an idiot for not knowing what they consider 'basic' stuff that i don't realize i should know.
