I think there's some potential for there to be an emotional paradox with Carson coming back, because it's not like they're retconning the actual death. The original recipe Carson Beckett is most sincerely dead. That Carson is no more, he has ceased to be. He's a stiff, bereft of life, he rests in peace. His metabolic processes are history. He's off the twig, kicked the bucket. He's shuffled off this mortal coil, run down the curtain joined the bleeding choir invisible. He is an ex-Beckett. Sorry, i couldn't resist - if you know, you know, and if you don't... well, we'll need to fix that someday, but now for something completely different... My point is, there is this sort of glitch in thinking about what it would be like to have a friend or loved one who died and for that still be true, but here's a literal clone, with all of their memories and personality traits, up to a point; and how do you reconcile. Presumably most people would be overjoyed to have that person back in their lives, but at the same time it would probably feel like you're forgetting about the one that died. The clone offers a relief to your grief, when really, Carson's still dead, which should still hurt; yet here's here... Ultimately I'm of a similar opinion as Xander Harris, which I would never thought I'd say and hopefully will never be true again. But, to paraphrase - Me like Carson. Carson's alive, so, me glad. Don't get me wrong, I like Keller too and would never want to see her go anywhere either. This was never much of a debate when Thor died and came back in a cloned body... Puppets are people too, Shan. 😏

2024-12-17 03:12:34 +0000 UTCAmanda ended up leaving Atlantis to go do her own show Sanctuary. Her and long time Stargate director/producer martin Wood created the show, shopped it around but no one picked it up. They ended up making it a web show with their pilot script broken up into short videos & as shot as cost effective as they could. It started gaining popularity so Syfy changed their mind & offered them a deal. The web series was cancelled & the pilot was reshot. Amanda chose to leave Atlantis to run her own show, which considering Atlantis ended up ending after season 5 & Sanctuary ran for 4 years, probably was the better career choice in the long run Still sad to see her go though as a Stargate fan
