Personally, I did kinda buy the book for the cover and for the mystery of wanting to know what was happening to them, though TBH, the way the mystery resolved was...weird.

It came as a surprise, and I have often wondered why this one was so popular. How it was different was that I had double gender swaps with married couples and spent more time than ever on how the changes impacted the way the women saw their husbands. I also had decided to have the whole book consist largely of the group trying to navigate what amounted to a giant escape room, which gave me some nice things to play with. Someone once suggested to me that people like stories that have more than one thing going on, so maybe trying to figure out puzzles + turning into a girl was just the stuff! I decided to use the original cover from Amazon as I have also wondered if the cover sold the book!
