FUN FACT! Initially I wanted them to be ANTAGONISTS they were mean girls who picked on Pearl for being a glutton her for most of her life then went away after high school, but when the story starts they've come back and are now making fun of her for not being plump and sexy like them. Pearl would gain a ton of weight then earn their respect. I ultimately decided to change them to being quite a bit more friendly because Pearl already has 3 antagonistic characters in her life adding 2 more seemed kind of redundant.
ANOTHER FUN FACT! The design for the girl who would become Ruby (one on the right) inspired the blonde Cowgirl Waitress.

I think someone going from “your too fat” to “your not fat like me” could still be used. Perhaps another character could use someone to butt heads with?
