Grimmlord: Fabulous First Issue

Hey, patrons!  This is a throwback story origin

Hitchcock is great. I've seen the "big one" but would like to check out more. The book is great, for sure. I learned a lot about storytelling from it. I write in scenes, and I often "see" the scenes in my mind as I am writing. When I am inspired, I don't feel like I am creating so much as writing down what is appearing in my head -- almost like I am watching a movie and then writing it down!

I have read theis Truffaut-Hitchcok book you mentionned !!!! It was a great reading !!! I learned a lot, then I forgot and it's time I read it again. Also, I was lucky enough to meet a friend that was an Hitchcok fan and we have seen them all together. OK, maybe not all, but most of them for sure. Whatever, it's so so nice that you know and appreciate this book. Also, I understand even better why you like to do movies Cheer

Thanks, as always. Carrolwood I consider one of my more ambitious efforts. I often use storytelling elements I learned from reading a book called Truffaut -Hitchchock, in which Truffaut interviews Alfred Hitchcock about every movie he ever made. I employed some of the ideas from that discussion in Carrolwood, and the the other goal for me was to really explore how the changes impacted other characters-- the families in particular. I agree that in my longer works the plots often seem to break down.

I had already read Grimlord, but only once, so I took the oportunity to get a second reading. I particularly like the characters you have created : Grimlord - the AI - the journalist. The way they interact makes a strong story, with drama, anger, but also kindness and forgivness. Note that this story is not so long. IMHO, your most consistent, robust and imaginative plots come in the context of stories of intermediate length. The best plot ever is Carolwood. Very well crafted, even if it let me frustrated in some way. Possibly because of the plot logic ? Not sure about that. Whatever, I talk about plots for a change and because Grimlord has a good one. But, as I told you before, I don't think it's the most important. You don't need a great plot to make a great book.
