Sad News: Weird. Not Weird Cancelled.

Hey, folks--  I am sorry to say that Weird. Not Weird has come to a sudden end. My collaborators on the show did not feel they wanted to be associated with me based on the other work I have produced.  I totally understand and have always believed in honoring other's feelings.

So, I do wish them all well.  I just thought I should share this development with all of you in case you signed up for Weird. Not Weird.  There will be no more episodes, sadly, but I will continue to post fiction as well as the short videos I have been making and posting here, GIFS ...etc...

I am sorry to let you all down.

This is a learning process for me, and I am finding that if I want to produce "mainstream" media, I can't also produce material the mainstream perceives as fetish or kink material.  For now, I am going to choose to produce the same material I have always made.  I have never been a part of "mainstream" culture, and I don't think I have any kind of future trying to conform to the expectations of "the world."   Perhaps I will one day be able to find some actors to work with, but for now that does not seem like an option.

Feeling pretty down, but I do intend to continue making art, and I hope you will all stay with me for some great material as we move forward!

When I took my first steps into a creative life, I was lucky enough to have mentor to counsel me that if my only motivation was to be rich and famous I was likely to be disappointed. He emphasizes the importance of creating material I was passionate about and to live my life right now and not always waiting and hoping for some future reward. So, that's what I have done, though I suppose there is part of me that certainly fantasizes sometimes about being the TG Stephen King! Again, thanks for all your posts.

Being accepted by the mainstream culture doesn't matter so much. There were great rock musicians long before rock was part of the mainstream culture. Regarding your Patreon content: I have enough for my money, even without the videos. I'm here for your stories first. If I get your books to come here before they are released, it would be enough to keep me happy. Regarding the captions: many would agree that rearanging existing elements is indeed creation. Meaning that reusing existing materials is OK

Thanks. I will keep on keeping on. I have Carrolwood going and I am excited and proud of that story, and some little videos I maspde myself that hopefully people will like. And, I am going to start looking for like-minded actors. John Waters was able to gather a community lo g before his work went mainstream, so maybe I can do the same. We’ll see! You’re the best. I really appreciate these posts and your support over the years!

I am definitely optimistic and naive, I would even say, when it comes to my willingness to believe in human nature. It has led me to be hurt more than once, but it just seems to be part of me. So, that is part of the package. Society has opened up to a lot during my lifetime, so I hold out hope for that to continue. You are so right about the cost of conformity. I tried, and it almost killed me. So, onward and upward.

Wow. Thanks so much. I really needed to be reminded that I am not crazy or alone. I mean, I know those things, but when something triggers old feelings it can mess up my mind a little. One of the things that has motivated me to keep writing is the belief that my stories help people realize they are not alone. I hope they bring joy to readers, pleasure, and also that feeling that there are people out there just like me.

There is still a way to go before full acceptance. Short ? Long ? Will it ever happen ? I don't know. But if we survive through global warming and energy crisis, and if our moral values keep evolving the way they are, expect words as "kinky" to become politically incorect. And if people read your post, they will feel for you . And wonder how harsh was the life in this time of prejudices. (Note that I don't advocate myself for prohibiting the word "kinky" in anyway. But I don't need it to describe your stories. "Wish fulfilment", "sensuality", "eroticism" and other words make a more acurate and bright picture of your work. Here, I talk with my heart, but I'm armed and ready to defend my point of view at scientific philosophic, or political level... :-)

Alexia

Maybe sharing my point of view could help a little bit? Here it is: You have done everything well, nothing wrong, but maybe being too optimistic, too confident toward the human nature. But it is precisely this part of you that makes your stories lovable. I massively agree with the distance you want to keep with the mainstream culture. We just cannot conform to it without loosing ourselves. So, it's up to the mainstream culture, not to us, to find a way to reflect the whole human experience.

Alexia

Hi, Taylor, come on! Times are shity, it's clear. But if you go through this, keeping your own way, I declare you are one of the most resilient person i have ever known.

Alexia

Thanks for the thoughtful posts. I am certainly looking at what I have been doing and assessing. Clearly, there are issues, so now I just need to decide how to address them. As disappointing as the collapse of WNW is to me, it was also not generating as much interest as I had hoped and was probably going to lose money. I have to find a way to work more like James-- not going to steal his idea-- I mean one person shooting with their own camera-- to have a hope of making money. Anyway, I am thankful for your thoughts. We'll see what happens.

Your stories on the other hand are all your work, so no problem putting them behind tiers, and any other kind of content that doesn't use the work of others. Its a lot easier to get support when your work is all your own or legal basically. People like James of Three Degrees off center or even someone like Tgednathan are making it work well enough because their content is all their own. Other thing to think about is maybe separating your production. I like your more fetish stories personally, but I know putting that beside something like Weird, Not weird I can see issues are going to form there. You already separated your stories on amazon before under two names, with the longer less fetish focused ones being under a different name. That may be what you need to do with other things. If you want something like a video series to work then perhaps put it under a production name banner instead of your own and separate it from your other stuff best as possible. I know having things fall apart a bit two weeks after you started it is a bit disheartening, but maybe you just got a bit ahead of yourself with this. Its still early and you can still recover it. Just take a moment to think about restructuring a bit and figure out something else that is going to get people hooked. At the moment I don't think your stories and image edits are going to be enough to grow this very far unless you are able to produce a whole lot of it.

Let me offer some advice, take from this what you will. First problem I can see deals with the derivative works. The gifs and images you are making using web found content that you are putting together into something else. These are derivative works from others works, so when you put this into your patreon and behind a paid tier then that essentially puts a paywall onto that content. Basically you are profiting from them, yet they aren't all your work. This falls into a pretty tough area, and I know there are many others trying to do the same thing now with running patreons for captioning. Still makes it a bad place to be, specially if you are also trying to do legit work with it. If you kept that content out from the paid tiers and open to anyone then you would at least be able to say that while people are paying to keep you working on content, you aren't actually charging for content that isn't entirely you own work. This would basically give you a little loop hole to work with there.

Thanks Joe! I appreciate the encouragement!

Taylor Galen Kadee

Sometimes things don”t work out the way we want them, you can only keep on moving forward

Joe Blow78

Uh, you have it removed also from Patreon? :/ Seems realy gone forever :/

stger

I don’t want to go into it too much other than to say I respect the request to end our affiliation and wish everyone well!

Taylor Galen Kadee

The actress doesn’t want the episodes distributed anywhere. I understand and will honor that request, so Weird Not weird is gone forever, I’m afraid.

Taylor Galen Kadee

Uh... and to what other work do they reference? Didn't follow your previous work ;)

stger

That a super sad news. I really really liked Wired not Wired. The actress was very talented and good looking. Sadly Wired Not Wired is the only content which was intresting for me on your Patreon :( Hopefully you find another good actress in the future for a similar project. Maybe you want to put the two Wired Not Wired episoed on TGC? Femur would proably love to host them.

stger

Thanks, Mindy. I appreciate it. It was something I was really excited about, but at the same time I don't want to create distress for other people. I will learn from this.

Taylor Galen Kadee

So sorry to hear this. I know it was really important to you. But I know you have many fans who appreciate your work and will continue to support you. I look forward to your future work.
