I agree, he started off trying to explain and calm down Bison but then once he re-lives his trauma and starts disassociating, he stops defending himself and barely looks or replies to Bison anymore. First did so well, it felt so intense.

2025-01-09 09:45:22 +0000 UTCFirst of all, thank you very much for taking the time to read my ramblings last ep! It felt good to get it all out, and even better to know it wasn't complete nonsense! Secondly, I'm totally with you re. being surprisingly elated after such a rollercoaster of an ep, and for the same reason - now the reveal is done, I feel like I can breathe again! And now we know that the glimpses of all the beautiful scenes still to come from MVs are going to be genuine, which is all I wanted! I think this is perfect timing because it gives the confrontations and reconciliations the breathing space they need whilst still leaving plenty of time to show us the real romance now everyone's one the same page, AND enough time for them all to team up and take down the real baddies! I'm especially happy because I actually predicted that Bison would knock Kant out at the hospital and he'd wake up on the boat, partly just out of wishful thinking, cos I really wanted that scene to come as soon as possible so we could get it over and done with! But also cos we saw Kant in the gown from that brief glimpse in the trailer, and I just couldn't see how the show would fit him being hospitalised as well into the narrative. I don't think I've ever been so pleased to be proven right! I'm not going to blather quite as much this time round, but just a couple of quick observations! Bison truly is committed to his revenge fantasy, because Kant told him he was afraid of the ocean in a throwaway line all the way back on their first date in ep 1! And evidently he stored that litlte nugget away only to use it in the worst possible way for maximum dramatic effect! In the same way he must have found and taken his necklace after he knocked Kant out so he could be wearing it for the grand climax. It's sort of hilarious but also absolutely devastating. I also think it's very in character for Kant to have twice told Bison the truth about something really significant but while still withholding possibly the most important detail - the truths: 1) he's afraid of the ocean and 2) his parents died in a plane crash. The important detail? He's afraid of the ocean BECAUSE HE WAS (semingly, unless I'm massively misinterpreting!) IN THE PLANE CRASH WITH THEM AND SURVIVED WHILE THEY (presumably) DROWNED! And also, if we do the maths, Babe must have still been a baby when they died which means a barely teenage Kant had to deal with survivor's guilt, PTSD and grief all while raising his baby brother, which definitely explains his ability to compartmentalise cos he'd have had to shut all that out in order to be the parent/brother Babe needed. Gah, I love backstory! And I think when you re-watch the boat scene, now knowing where his fear of the ocean comes from, you can see he's not just afraid, he's having a full-blown trauma response, which is why he barely even tries to explain or talk himself out of it. You can see the moment he starts to dissociate, which I think is why his immediate reply is so weak, because he's not really thinking about the gun, or even about Bison - his sole thought is how can he get back onto dry land. He can't focus on anything else. And there's like a second where you can see him just shut everything down and his eyes go blank. I just love First's face! He's so expressive with it - you can see the exact moment he realises Bison isn't going to believe anything he says anyway, and from that point on he doesn't utter a single word. And you can see the exact moment he understands what's going to happen and is immediately plunged straight back into the past, re-living his trauma, and at that point, even if it could've helped, he no longer even has the wherewithal to try and explain/beg/just do something, anything. (I also wonder if part of him feels this is what he deserves - it aligns with his whole weary fatalism shtick: of COURSE it was going to end like this, and not with the two of them road-tripping around Iceland happily ever after - he was a fool for ever contemplating otherwise.) Okay, so evidently I lied, that was still a lot of blather! Anyway, I'm just so happy with where we're at plot development-wise at this stage in the show. For the first time I can just wholeheartedly look forward to the upcoming episodes without the accompanying dread I've gotten used to thus far - hooray! As always, it's been a treat watching your reaction and I'm glad it's cheered you up! (Oh, completely unrelated - I saw on Twitter you talked about wanting First and Mix to act together again, and I know it's almost certainly not what you had in mind, but apparently FK are going to cameo in EM's new show, so...that sort of counts??)

It was so good! It seriously kept me on the edge of my seat…and I had to pause and pace around for a bit. 😮💨 I need ep8 now!

2025-01-08 22:51:59 +0000 UTCThe first like 40 minutes of this episode nearly gave me a heart attack!! The level of anxiety!!!! Those conversations at the start of the paintballing scene!! Are you kidding me?!!! The look of fear on Style’s face when he sees Fadel holding that paintball gun!!! It lasts a millisecond but it’s like reality flashing at him!! Fadel and Style both lowkey giving themselves away that they know- the most tense conversation!!!! Also I did pause and throw my phone when I saw the crop top on Joong. And immediately needed to see your reaction 😂 High key enjoying psycho Bison though! Like I have been waiting for this from him. The way Style was so optimistic while talking to Kant, fully made me fall in love with his character. And he’s been that way this entire time and it just melts my heart. But also he is actually insane, the way he way acting with that gun pointed at him? Insane behavior.
