Author Note: Update.
Added 2025-05-31 20:55:14 +0000 UTCHey everyone,
I’ve been meaning to write this for a while, but honestly… I wasn’t sure where to start. A lot has happened since my last post about this, some good, a lot bad; and things have been rather overwhelming.
The good news: My mom is almost done with her radiation treatment. Her last session is scheduled for June 6th. That’s a big milestone for us. We won’t know how effective the treatment has been until a follow-up MRI, about three months later. But at least, for now, we’re moving in the right direction.
We’ll be getting that MRI in Spain; because by early July, we’re planning to move there.
Why Spain? As many of you have asked me.
Because that’s where 90% of our family is. It’s also significantly cheaper to live in than the U.S.A, and the public healthcare system is much more accessible to us as Spanish/EU citizens. Right now, every dollar counts, and the reality is, staying in the U.S. just isn’t sustainable anymore.
When I was able to work full-time, things were manageable. Between my job and what I earned through writing here, we were okay. But with my mom's condition as you guys know, I’ve become her full-time caregiver; handling everything from medical routines to paperwork and daily life. That’s made holding a regular job impossible.
Right now, the only income we have comes from my writing here on Patreon. And while I’m doing my best, it has been hard to update as often as I or you guys would like. That’s another reason Spain makes sense; with lower costs and family support, it gives us a better shot at stability.
The good part in all this: I’m finally getting back more time to write. A lot of the paperwork, doctor visits, and errands are winding down or moving online, so I’ll be able to focus more on the stories and silly stuff I want to share with you.
I wanted to thank you guys; for sticking around, for supporting us, for everything. I might not know any of you in real life, but I love you all the same. None of this would be possible without you.
On a lighter note, less sentimental notel; and by popular demand (aka my mom’s insistence) I’ll eventually be writing a One Piece novel and a Hunter x Hunter one.
I know we talked about this on the chat. And while nothing was concrete at the time, my mom has been… rather insistent.
Ever since all of this started, anime has somehow taken over her life. One Piece is currently her favorite show; she’s hooked, like… completely. She’s been binge-watching it like it's the best show ever created. It’s become a daily ritual, and honestly, seeing her so engaged in something has been one of the few bright spots during all this.
She’s also started reading some of my stories; and surprised me by actually liking them (some of them, she was rather harsh on some, and no I’m not crying, my eyes sweat a lot) She told me my DBZ one reminds her of when I was a kid, ranting for hours about Saiyans and what I would do if I was a Saiyan, I have to admit it’s rather wild seeing her connect to that part of me now.
So yeah… thanks to Mom, it looks like I’ll be diving headfirst into a One Piece story.
And now that she knows you guys know about this, and the fact she has ideas, she suggested I make a poll so that you guys could decide which of her ideas or combination of; made the best project.
So there’s that… and before you guys ask, my mom’s favorite character in HxH is Killua, which ins’t surprising since she loves cats.

That’s wholesome as hell that she’s binging one piece and using her new knowledge to flame you lol

2025-06-01 02:09:04 +0000 UTCWe have family. And rent is cheaper. Most importantly, we need the social security. With her health covered, and me being able to cover all the expenses, because they are less, things will improve. Of course there’s problems, but at least rent being 2700 a month is not going to be one of them.

2025-05-31 21:25:41 +0000 UTCWell we have our issues in European countries, but if you have family and a good plan to make your life there, I believe things will be pretty smooth, and a big advantage in Europe too is : no hurricanes, typhoon and all this crazy stuff 😬 I'm French so I can't really say for Spain but if it's similar enough with healthcare, quality of life and purchasing power, I believe you could make a comfortable place for yourself and your family 👍
