ZEITGEIST #3 (Part 2) - Digging For Lies

The third adventure in the ZEITGEIST adventure path continues in this 33-page instalment!

In the wake of a villain's defeat, his accomplices flee into the seedy underbelly of Flint. The party tracks down an arcanoscientist selling illegal arms and magic developed in labs owned by the fallen villain, and discovers a curious collection of ancient artifacts.

These primitive weapons contain powerful spells capable of conjuring alien monsters never seen in modern times. To unearth why shadowy forces are collecting these relics, the partytravels into the High Bayou, lair of the dread fey titan called the Voice of Rot. There, beneath an ancient ziggurat, the party finds the remains of a doomed archaeological expedition, and learns that a powerful alien entity has escaped its ancient prison and entered this world. The party has tugged into view one thread of the conspiracy, but to reach its heart and see how deep the threat goes, they're going to have to dig.

An adventure for enterprising heroes of 5th level.

Is this the map you mean? https://bit.ly/3flLqyi

The map for the 'The Wreck and the Ruin' encounter does not appear to be included in this version. I was able to get the map from my 4e book, but thought it might be worth noting.

Also very true! Replace "staggered" with "disoriented (has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks)" [same effect as poison, but don't want creatures immune to poison not to be affected). If you notice anything else awry please tell us! <3

Mike Myler

True! Ignore "in area burst 1 somewhere" so the sentence just reads "It has disadvantage on vehicle (water) checks for the rest of the turn, and creatures in on the main deck must make a save or be swept overboard."

Woot! :D 1) I don't think so, but I've made a quick mock-up that could be useful for players (it is simple and crude but might do the trick): https://bit.ly/2KwEVtk 2) It can still grapple like anybody else but aye the last iteration of the creature had a grab as part of the tentacle. The flashing orb's escape DC is 13.

Page 30, under “Power of the Plane of Water” says characters are staggered, but this is not a 5e condition.

Page 23, under “Above the Seal” mentions an area burst 1. This is 4e terminology that doesn’t exist in 5e.

I love the ziggurat dungeon so far! Still reading through it, but had some questions. 1. Can we get a player safe version of the map? 2. The flashing orb (pg 10) has a feature that relies on grappling, but no reliable method for grappling. Is its tentacle of light attack supposed to also grapple the target?
