The Holdenshire Chronicles (Act 3): Into the Dragon's Lair

The third and final act of TO SLAY A DRAGON! The heroes have travelled across the lands to reach Skull Mountain, armed with powerful artifacts which will help them slay the mighty dragon, Cirothe. Can they penetrate the volcano lair, defeat the mighty dragon, rescue Ariadne, and claim the dragon's hoard for themselves? Or have they bitten off more than they can chew? Illustrations by Claudio Pozas; cartography by Sean MacDonald.

Excellent adventure. I hope we see more classics like this one.

Jim Marshall

We just killed Cirothe last night! And we actually didn't use any of the magic items hahaha We had 6-9 players playing since the beginning and everyone was level 5-6 on the last battle. Ou DM did some nice changes to holenshire people (Kalle was a Green Dragonborn and Tammas a Dwarf Sorcerer for instance).

There doesn't seem to be level recommendations anywhere? (I'm bad at looking...) I assume 7+ to go after part 2, but is there an expected level once you're done?

Matt Carlson

Cirothe uses the spellcasting variant. That content isn't SRD, but it's readily available.

I am currently DMing this and I have a question: The whole point of the hammer of vengeance is to negate Cirothe's spellcasting. But the standart monster entry from MM has no spellcasting abilities in this Edition and there is no elaboration on this matter anywhere in this product to be found. Am I missing anything?

To Stake A Vampire isn't about dragons. :)

I really appreciate the effort, time, and quality of these, but after being mired in HotDQ for way longer than I'd like, and rolling into RoT, I'd just like to see some adventures that don't have anything to do with dragons.

Daniel Henson

There's a certain time of year where it would be thematically appropriate. ;)

Joey

Near the end of Act One. Any chance on seeing To Stake a Vampire updated to 5e?

Jesse Burciaga

Still in Act 2; looking good so far! Holdenshire could be a bit less "god forsaken place" though hahaha

The Holdenshire Chronicles are now complete! Let us know how your campaign is going in the comments!
