The Holdenshire Chronicles (Part 1): Holdenshire Primer

It's a big day for EN5ider fans! Today marks the start of a new series called 'The Holdenshire Chronicles'. An adaption of Russ Morrissey's TO SLAY A DRAGON, the PCs will start their adventuring careers in the sandbox village of Hengistbury, in the county of Holdenshire, before embarking on a quest to travel across the land and slay a dragon. But first, before the adventuring can begin, we launch with this 23-page Holdenshire Primer which introduces you to the county, its peoples, and locations of note. By Russ Morrissey, Jacob Driscoll, Christopher J. Herbert, and Brian Casey. Illustrated by Claudio Pozas. Cartography by Sean MacDonald.

Attached below are both the 23-page PDF and a hi-res version of the map.

That's a touch complicated. All of the stuff tagged ELISSAR on this Patreon is part of the Official Cannon. Certain elements about the To Save A Kingdom adventure path for 5E (like the Angelic Fane) just aren't part of the Official Cannon because various details about the setting didn't get etched into stone that early, and ***significant*** portions of the hardcover Level Up: Advanced Fifth Edition (A5E) version of To Save A Kingdom are different from what you can get on this Patreon; I think it's something like 30% more content, 50% more content, and 60% more content for each adventure respectively. It all works together—playing any of these adventures and then Dragon-Turtle Surgery, Isle Slithers, or Peace in the Border Kingdoms, etc. won't break stuff—but to keep the division between what's Official Cannon (both in 5E and A5E) and what isn't, the 5E TSAK adventures are untagged.

Holdenshire eventually became part of Elissar, right?

I love that you have tags. Could have a special tag for the Holdenshire Chronicles, please? I am running my gamers through these modules now and just got to ACT II. It took a while to scroll though your Patreon feed and find a map I missed. These modules have been really fun to adapt to my online game.

Any chance we are going to see some maps of the villages and the castle? My party tends to want to 'see' those sort of things and it really helps with how the story flows if I have maps like that available.

Mark Sim

It starts at 1st level, yep. Act 1 is levels 1-4.

DnD EN5ider

I'd like know the level range this is for before I 'purchase' this. It's not mentioned anywhere in the blurb. Are we meant to assume it's from first level to ??

I like all the information on the various NPC's - as well as having images of them. I use Fantasy Grounds (even when I play at my table) to display maps and portraits and such and having those sort of things available really helps with my setup time as well as helps with the players immersion.

This prologue material looks great and reads very well! Having part one of the adventure alongside this would have been ideal, but I look forward to the future installments.

Nice! I dislike waiting so long for the entire adventure but I think the same thing for all the adventure paths I have to wait for. It seems to be the norm. It is really great that we are getting such a great adventure converted for us! It really is a great adventure! I ran it for pathfinder and had a blast!

I've attached the hi-res map above, alongside the PDF!

I'll have to defer to the editor on that. The initial plan was to do one per month, assuming we can meet that schedule, but I'm hesitant to promise.

DnD EN5ider

Yeah, as it happens there is, Edward! You can find it here: <a href="https://toslayadragondotcom.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/county_of_holdenshire.png" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://toslayadragondotcom.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/county_of_holdenshire.png</a>

This is well-written. I can't wait to see the follow up materials. Is it possible to obtain a high rez version of the map?

Edward Haggerty

I've been waiting for this. When will the conversion of TSaD Act 1 be available? I already started my campaign...
