Sounds reasonable to me!

There's no level 6 ability for Circle of the World. Can I safely assume that's an extra attack?

Not really seeing the benefit of the Arcane Blademaster. It really doesn't do anything and actually hampers any wizard build that would choose it. An Elf Wizard already has access to Longsword and Shortsword and also not getting any other benefit until Level 10 is the "lack of icing" on the cake for that particular alternative kit. Possibly adding something that would allow them to use their Int for attack and damage at 3rd or 4th Level. Provide them with an additional attack action at maybe at 8th or 10th Level. Also have the actual Int Mod extra damage as different elemental types of damage or one of the types of damage available, such as norm (fire & cold), along with lightning, thunder, psychic, acid, and even force. You could have that spread out across levels so as to not provide them all at once. Fire and Cold at at first and then maybe can choose again for another 2 more at another higher level. Also, instead of static Int Mod damage as an addition, make it a 1d4 to start and then increase to 1d6 and maybe even later make it a 1d8 or 2d6. Like at 5th, 10th, and 15th levels. That's also where the different damage types can be added as well.

I love Circle of the World. It's a great way to emulate elements of the Warden class from 4e – since neither Oath of the Ancients Paladin nor Rangers (any) have access to the Investiture spells (due to their 6th-level nature). I like the Commander options. Battlemage I'm not sure on. It seems to be there to support the Bladesinger subclass mainly, but now that there are several weapon-based arcane cantrips, it seems a shame to miss out on 3 of the 4.

Still not sure how I feel about substituting abilities when there are already choices like fighting styles and subclasses. I have done it myself, and these are actually very good options - I am just concerned we will end up with too many choices again and there may not be a unifying theme to a class and we end up back at 4E with a huge grab bag of any abilities. However, I also really like the way John has combined these as 'kits' - probably the best use of this word/idea for 5E. Not a bad idea at all. In any case, I this article will more than likely see time at our table and I have certainly placed the options within onto our website as viable options for my players. :)

I haven't read it thoroughly yet, but this is exactly the type of articles for D&D 5 I am looking for. I like the system but found the lack of options a little dissappointing. These articles fill that gap. I see you are using the pathfinder approach here with archetypes that replace features of a core class instead of adding a whole new one. I love that. Keep up the good work!

It's definitely a strong option for the sword-'n-board, which has often been overlooked compared to the two-hander fighter. Personally, I wish there were more options for the one-handed fighter w/o shield.

A champion with the phalanx and dueling fighting styles is a force to be reconed with, wonder how balanced it would be. If my fighter had both styles he would be rolling 1d10+6 damage with a 19 AC, kind of insane.
