This is supposed to represent how Egyptians back then would sculpt and paint black statues they used to represent a whole assortment of things.
In this case Azentaru is also a lot more evil and ruthless hence his facial expression. Bringing out more of his dark side (literally)
We'll see how he is when it comes to pleasing the new Dark Death God...
