When I first watched this way back when I was like "This is the lamest, quatermainest Quatermain shite I've ever had to endure!" and started to question the drug intake of the writers. And whaddayaknow ... It actuallyWAS a shoddy Quatermain fantasy, shoddy but a happy one, inside Angel's head 🤣

2025-12-04 18:14:48 +0000 UTCI actually like it. It shows that people are dysfunctional and make poor choices. Heroes don't make good life decisions. Angel is not a perfect person. He's an adult who tries to do good but routinely picks inappropriate women. He's someone who has to grow and change as time goes on, and so does Buffy. Buffy outgrows Angel, while Angel and Spike are Stuck in their ways to a large extent. The Connor / Cordelia was not purely based on free will. There was mystical energy influencing Cordelia to like Conor. While she may have made a choice, we do know there were other forces at work to get them together (see next season).

2025-11-25 21:10:24 +0000 UTCI have never been able to get on board with Angel and Cordelia as a couple. It has and continues to feel incredibly forced; and I preferred their relationship more when it was platonic/chosen family type dynamic. The first couple of seasons Angel was more like a protective older brother to Cordelia; so the romantic angle just feels weird. I don't particularly care for the Connor/Cordelia thing either, but it does bug me the way they treat their ages. Like them suggesting Cordelia is "too old" for Connor. This is a prime example of the show taking for granted that Cordelia is only 21 this season. She's younger than Fred. But Charisma was 32 and that's basically how the writers treat her. If we're to go with the 18 estimate for Connor, at worst, Cordelia is only 3 years older than him. But 18 is only a vague estimate, because the characters don't actually know; and Holtz probably wasn't paying that close to each year that went by or making a big deal about Connor's birthday. However, Vincent Kartheiser was 23 during season 4; so there's no reason Connor couldn't actually have been 23 as well, which would have actually made him older than Cordelia...
