Saying that this show needs some emotional intelligence…..

I knew Ashleigh would absolutely devour the Spike and Buffy fling. . .and I hate it lol. Spike and Buffys "relationship" always rubbed me the wrong way, at least at this point in the show. Spike is not in love with Buffy, he doesnt have a soul. There is a fine line between love and obsession, and he is very much a monster that is obsessed. Lets not forget that the second he thought the chip had stopped working, his first instinct was to kill again.

There's an interesting, if unsettling parallel that I don't think gets talked about enough.
In this episode Warren creates a means of altering a person's mind; and he uses it on his ex to bend her will and he intends to use that for sexual gain.
And he almost does, before Katrina snaps out of it, then calls it for what it really is - he was going to sexually assault her. Her mind was altered, affecting her capacity to consent
But so was Tara just a few episodes ago. Willow put the whammy on her, influencing her mind; and it's implied during "I'm Under Your Spell" that Willow and Tara do have sex... While Tara's under the influence of Willow's spell - which of course was the entire double meaning behind the song.
Katrina snapped out of it, but Tara didn't until much later. Willow altered her state of mind, then literally took advantage of that altered state. Any consent Tara might have had in the matter is undermined by the fact her mind had manipulated to make her more compliant....
