The whole thing in the magic shop is ridiculously frustrating. The customer must hold you to the promise of the mummy hand? Fuck that. Talk about entitlement.
But then there's Giles and Anya, which is where it gets really contrived. Why didn't they help her with the mummy hand? One of them must have known how to handle it? And clearly they're capable of hearing new information, because Anya responds to Buffy knowing the customer wants a mummy hand. And why are they not supervising her first sale to make sure its processed correctly?? It's bullshit to take the extra charge out of her check, when they didn't sufficiently prepare her for the job. If they had, she wouldn't have had to ship the mummy hand, much less undercharged her.
And somehow the Trio can be outside the shop and be immune to the time loops? Then the qualification that it was the shortest trial is bullshit, because Buffy was in-sync with them and ostensibly the rest of the world and only four people knew no different.

I really hate this episode. It just seems contrived to leave Buffy directionless; and specifically to inexplicably discount Buffy working at the magic shop, which is the most logical option for her to make money.
The storyline with the Trio is just so fucking dumbing from every angle. I'm basically done with Jonathan at this point, because he's had so many chance that he should know better, but apparently doesn't.
More importantly if they - or more specifically Warren - can do all this shit, what do they need to be villains for settle on being "crime lords of Sunnydale"? They cartoon villains with a seemingly endless supply of resources; and apparently the ability to warp the fucking space-time continuum.
Seriously, Warren can create a wireless, long range, high-def camera the size of a pea; which has room for a self-destruct function and, oh yeah, can locally manipulate time around Buffy. Like we're going to just gloss over the fact that Warren can do this, yet he's dicking around with all this penny ante bullshit, instead of moving to silicone valley during the height of the dot com bubble and collecting his first billion dollars and begin racing other billionaires to space.
The other two don't even rank; they're just competent mystics with enough skill to do some damage.
And the the Scoobies are sceptical about all this... 🙄
Like what was Tara seeing while time was skipping ahead for Buffy? Was Buffy just standing still and Tara leaves her behind to go to class? Then just keeps walking away from her alone when they get outside and Buffy seems to stop talking to her midsentence?
