You see, it's not the first time Angel just walks away (remember the people in the Hyperion hotel in the '50s?). The first time, he was just disappointed in humans. Now... It seems like he wants to "really fight." I can see his calculations: "If I'm going to tackle Real Evil (= Wolfram and Hart), then I can't have civilians like Cordy, Wes or Gunn around. They're great people, and quite good if what you're doing is just saving souls or fighting demons; but if it's Angel vs. Wolfram and Hart... I have to do this alone."
So Angel, who started out with Doyle just fighting to save a soul a day, is now angry. He wants to win this war. And it's a war, right?...
