5x5 is old radio lingo, like from CB or military comms. It basically means "loud and clear." The first number is signal strength, the second is clarity. "5 by 5" kind of stuck as a way to say "all good" even outside of radio. As to where a teenage girl in the 90s (Faith) heard it? I'n guessing she watches war movies.
