I really hope the other Patrons will also vote up Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes when the time comes Ash. It’s definitely worth it.

President Coin... two sides of the same... coin.
When I read the books, I could not put them down. I bought the first book and read it (a week or two before the first film came out), and then following that I bought and read the next two within a couple of weeks, and I'm not a heavy reader. So, with that being said, I think you should read them.

I mean even the book gives the undercurrent of still managing to find some semblance of normalcy again amid everything that happened. While things definitely won't be the same, they won't be as bad as they were though.

The end of the book is the same on the surface as the end of this movie, but it's much, much more bleak. It's still Katniss and Peeta with their kids, but with her internal monologue, you learn that they're both still dealing with INTENSE PTSD and Katniss still knows full well that, at any point, her husband could snap because of the brainwashing/PTSD and murder her in her sleep, essentially. It's a pretty dark undercurrent for what looks, on the surface, to be a pretty serene and happy ending.
