LITERARY POLL
Added 2025-04-12 14:00:13 +0000 UTCAlthough I have very recently picked up reading as hobby - I have not read MANY (and if any) of the classics. NOR have I watched any of the movies from said books!
I already HEAR some of the comments and I know these are all different genres; some social justice, horror, musical, and possibly more. Some order some newer.
but variety is the spice of life so may the best book adaptation win!

When Ralph Fiennes was cast as Voldemort in Harry Potter, after seeing him in this shortly before I literally said out loud "Perfect fckng casting"

2025-05-01 17:59:08 +0000 UTCThese are all really great! One of my favorites is Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal. The books by Thomas Harris are so much more disturbing than the movies could ever get away with.

2025-04-22 23:12:01 +0000 UTCYou could drive down to Monroeville, AL and watch them do the play at the courthouse. I think itโs the week after next. :p

2025-04-19 03:17:21 +0000 UTCYou will enjoy To Kill a Mockingbird more, but Schindler's List is a wonderfully made movie.

2025-04-16 01:59:11 +0000 UTCThe Emma Thompson one followed the book really well. Alan Rickman as Colonel Brandon is swoon worthy.

2025-04-14 20:30:10 +0000 UTCAshleigh, I voted for Sound of Music although I don't think it will win. There are many worthies on this list -IMHO Breakfast at Tiffany's and American Psycho can be missed (cue the hate) - Devil Wears Prada is fun but is very lightweight compared to even Sense and Sensibility. To Kill A Mockingbird is THE Great American novel. While the movie is lovely (A swoony Gregory Peck!), I strongly encourage you to read the book. Even just listen to it while working out or doing chores.

2025-04-13 06:31:25 +0000 UTCWell if you watch Breakfast at Tiffany's, and you like it, then at least you'll have one thing in common with the lead singer of the band "Deep Blue Something" (and to anyone who now has that song stuck in their head: you're welcome ;) )
