The movies are incredible adaptations however there is so much extra context that is missing from them that you get in the books. So much internal narrating from Katniss that is difficult to translate to film and some really important scenes that are unfortunately cut from the films. I am not an avid reader whatsoever yet the Hunger Games series is the only book series I’ve ever read multiple times they are truly that good! I really hope you decide to read the books and maybe give your thoughts on them too!

2025-04-18 13:24:05 +0000 UTCThere are things in the book that don’t fully translate to movies. Like the book you are inside of katniss’ head, so you understand more of her logic on certain things. Like her and haymitch’s weird way of communicating. They understand each other which comes into play in mockingjay pt 2. Also it’s a shame the movie is edited to splice up Finnic’s story because it’s pretty heartbreaking and with the intense scenes of the rescue it’s easy to miss. He was essentially trafficked by snow. So his playboy/pretty boy act was an act. They also don’t really talk about it much in the movies I don’t think but Annie was severely traumatized by her games and Finnic protected her. You also get a better idea of district 13. They essentially cut a deal in the initial rebellion to play dead, and the capital would leave them alone. They also manufactured nuclear weapons/military stuff which is why they had leverage on the capital initially. Katniss does figure this out before going there because she is told by rebels she meets while hunting that the footage they always use of district 13 has the same mockingjay that flys in frame.
