All I'm going to say without hopefully saying anything is.. timelines.. crossovers. And I really enjoyed it, but it took me a while and didn't really warm up for me until their second season. But if you do watch it, I think that eventually you would grow to like it more than you expected. Either way, I respect your choice.

I personally didn’t watch Angel for years after watching Buffy. Didn’t change either experience for me. Personally Angel was never my favorite character either so I’m totally okay with you skipping it.
