EARLY ACCESS: Howard The Duck

Comments

OH I forgot! So sorry. I hope you get better soon and thanks for everything you so here to keep us entertained. Life is so much better when I see your videos, especially with a movie I love.

Stephen Koehler

Howard the Duck was one of those really misunderstood comics in the Marvel universe. Its writer was the controversial Steve Gerber, who created Man-Thing and other esoteric Marvel characters. It ran through the middle to late 1970's and Howard even ran for President! I'm sure there is someone who can get a Get Down America! Vote Howard the Duck in 76 button somewhere. But Howard just didn't fit into the normal Marvel pantheon. Teleported from Duckworld and 'Trapped in a World He Never Made." Steve Gerber was eventually fired as editor after he suffered a Nerveous Breakdown which led to a rather escoteric issue where he talked about his road trip to reorient himself. Still Marvel had had enough and he was gone and later issues were finished with another editor It ended after a run of only 28 issues. But then Marvel was starting a more "adult" version of its books and this resulte in a short run Magazine. The magazine edition was even more interesting but wasn't enough to save it and it petered out in the middle 1980's. Steve Gerber would go on to Saturday moring Animation with GI Joe, and Thundarr the Barbarian, as well as writing one episode of Star Trek TNG. He's no longer with us sadly. This movie was a rather sad attempt at the character. I could appreciate some lines, but in the end it trashed the concept and I only appreciated it only because at least they tried. I hope that the Howard of political satire and sass he was in the books could only be on the big screen once.

Stephen Koehler

For Gene Hackman, Uncommon Valor. For Michelle Trachtenberg, EuroTrip. Leah Thompson (Beverly) was in Back to the Future, Red Dawn, All The Right Moves with Tom Cruise, etc. Howard had a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Mark Lee

Poseidon Adventure is an underrated Hackman flick too.

Matthew Periolat

I hope you get better soon.

Tony Rossell

OMG pneumonia! That’s so awful, take as much rest as you need and feel better soon! ♥️♥️

Jordan Shuey

i dont wanna sound to mean but ... damn that movie is bad xD

Florian Hoyer

It looks like she's gonna end up watching The Marvels before seeing Ms. Marvel....

Joe Blankenship

Ohhhh NO! HAH HAH HAH! Oh this will be an INTERESTING reaction.

Matthew Vandiver

Of course Leslie Nielsen is also in the movie, and I am curious to see Ashleigh react to Leslie in a non-comedic role. (of course even in his comedies a lot his performance was him saying funny lines in a serious tone)

Anthony

Gene Hackman could have a month unto himself: French Connection, Hoosiers, Replacements, Unforgiven, Quick and the Dead, Enemy of the State, Conversation, Get Shorty, and so many more

David Harrison

Yes the red headed guy (Dr. Jenning) has been in several movies that you've seen. The actor is Jeffrey Jones, and you've also seen him in Beetlejuice, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and Hunt For Red October. His career pretty much died in 2002, you're free to look up why, but I will warn you it's pretty disgusting..

Anthony

Pneumonia is serious. It was the only illness that ever kept my mother down when she was younger ... and nothing else did until she was 92. A good friend of mine in his 70s just died of pneumonia about a month ago. So I hope you don't chance anything by returning to work too soon.

David Hayes

Welp, my second favorite actor Gene Hackman has passed, so it’s time to introduce you to my favorite disaster film and the granddaddy of all disaster films, The Poseidon Adventure.

Chelsea

Well, everyone hates it.

Brian Straight

Royal Tenenbaums for Gene Hackman. Harriet the Spy for Michelle Trachtenberg.

Joe Blankenship

Popcorn in Bed did it not long ago. She hated it.

Joe Blankenship

I still can't believe Gene Hackman died this week

Ricky P Kraus

Ducky.....no lie, that was my nickname in middle & high school. (But it didn't come from this movie or that...John Hughes movie. I wore an Anaheim Ducks hat and the nickname just stuck.)

Jacob Colson

Pneumonia sucks. On the upside you're young and it's readily treatable. Feel better soon. On another note, for the Gene Hackman tribute I suggest "The French Connection" (1971). Nominated for eight Oscars it won five, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Hackman (his first Oscar), and Best Director for William Friedkin (who also directed The Exorcist.)

Elliot Nesterman

That is very scary. Best wishes for a speedy recovery! 💐👧

Meredith Shivers

I vote for Absolute Power, or Poseidon Adventure

Crystal Wood

I could have sworn you already did this.

Brian Straight

Get well soon. Gene Hackmen just passed. If you do a poll for him you should include The Poseiden Adventure, Mississippi Burning and The Unforgiven.

Bill Bevins

She records a couple of weeks in advance at least so that the reaction can be ready to go up here a week early.

Tyler Foster

Above all else, I hope you get well soon. I know Marvel won the poll, but what exactly are we getting? Spiderverse?

Aldo Gonzales

You have pneumonia, so to make us all suffer in solidarity, here's Howard the Duck! ;) Feel better!

Tyler Foster

Get well soon Hun 🌺🌺🌺🌹🌹🌹

Grumpy Santa

Hope you feel better. Pneumonia sucks! 🤒 🤧

Crystal Wood

Oooohhhh yeah!!! Can’t wait to watch this with you! (By the way… I sent you a message on Patreon, Facebook, Instagram, and even wrote an email to your Awkward Ashleigh Admin account…)

Crystal Wood

So sorry to hear that (and on Howard the Duck day, of all days). Take care of yo'self!

Michael Tocci

Oh wow.. sick and subjected yourself to this one? That's a serious 1.. 2.. punch.
