Added 2025-02-10 14:48:10 +0000 UTCIt's been a HOT minute since I put JUST sequels on poll - although y'all seemed excited about a mix-and-match of sequels being available for Franchise Fridays - so let's see what will win individually.
These are a total and complete mixed bag of genres - action, scary, mystery, fun - I just wanted y'all to have plenty of options.
(and for those who will complain about scary movies being on here - halloween may be just a day but halloBEANS is a life style lololol)

I guess, in sequel terms, Nightmare on Elm Street 2 is a natural for Hallo-Beans 2025 since Halloween II and Friday the 13th Part 2 have had their days. But, weirdly, the film takes such a wild left turn from what the original was that I tend to divorce from the crowd. I do like the movie and everything. I'm glad it has so many fans now and people who defend it so passionately- I'm gay and the fact that it's mostly straight people trying to be allies to my community by defending it. I almost wish I liked it more than I do, as much as they do. It's the kind of movie that makes me think: it's a gay movie for straight people, though. My personal recommendation would be, since you already watched Psycho (1960), to watch Psycho II for Hallo-Beans 2025. A lot of people like it even more than Alfred Hitchcock's original. Or: Final Destination 2. It's *much* better than the first movie.

2025-02-11 06:22:32 +0000 UTCI'm sure I'm in the minority as a Rocky 4 hater, but for both Friday the 13th and Rocky I would definitely suggest only polling those for Franchise Friday as you have reached a point where I think the series will only return to the channel as bundles that bring both beloved and divisive movies to the channel (consensus would probably be that Rocky 3 and 4 are good but 5 is very bad and then 6 is great, so this would prevent 5 being a roadblock, and for F13 I think the consensus is that 4 is good, 5 is bad, 6 is good, and 7 is mixed). Also note that for Rocky 4 there are two cuts of the movie, the original theatrical cut and a newer director's cut. Both are widely available for rent and purchase, so there would not be an immediate reason to choose one over the other. The director's cut is fairly recent, so more people will have seen the theatrical, but it sounds like the director's cut is also a big improvement.

Glass Onion and Top Gun Maverick are both great, but National Treasure 2 is just the kind of cheesy heist fun that Ashleigh would love. On the other hand, I don't see how even 6% of people could look at this list of movies and pick Terminator 3. Ugh.

2025-02-10 17:53:55 +0000 UTCLol. Did I vote for Nat'l Treasure 2? Yes. Yes, I did. Is it superior to Top Gun Maverick or even Glass Onion? No, no it is not. But it IS stupid fun. I do hope Ashley you don't get discouraged by people sh*tting on your polls, usually there is at least one gem to vote for in them. But if one lonely voice in the wilderness gets through to you, if you are wanting something suspenseful/scary please give Hitchcock movies another round of polls. The Master of Suspense really laid the groundwork for the horror genre.

2025-02-10 16:45:59 +0000 UTCI actually have a soft spot for Terminator 3, it’s got its flaws, but there’s something entertaining about it, maybe personal bias since I grew up watching it, along with T1 and T2. That said, out of all the Terminator content post-T2, I’d highly recommend checking out Terminator: Zero (2024). It’s a Netflix anime developed by Mattson Tomlin and directed by Masashi Kudō. It puts a really cool spin on the Terminator series by moving the setting to 1997 Japan, two years after Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
