Yes it is a movie that isn't as slick as it's remake and am glad you noticed Sammy who a lot of people will say was the best one of The Rat Pack group which started in this movie. He has the funny bone of the group and is the most charming. It is a product of it's time though. See it as that. It's still a classic

I've noticed there aren't too many musicals on the channel. We should make suggestions to go on a poll for those old, incredibly lush musicals from the 50's. Start with anything by Busby Berkeley. These are the movies Mel Brooks imitated at the end of "Blazing Saddles".
In the 60's, you had West Side Story, The Music Man, The Sound of Music. And so *many* other great musical films.

I like Sinatra in "The Man with the Golden Arm". And (I have to repeat), "Die Hard" is the *sequel* to "The Detective" (1968). The producers of Die Hard asked Frank to reprise his role, but Frank thought he was too old for the part. See the original!
