how's about another poll
Added 2025-01-18 15:00:06 +0000 UTCAs y'all know February not only about Valentine's Day; it is also Black History month - so I've gathered a few movies for you to vote on all different genres and even years.
Pick your favorite!

I love Hidden Figures. Also, it’s CARMEN Jones, not Cameron Jones. It’s George’s Bizet’s opera Carmen with an all black cast
Paula Barr
2025-02-05 17:38:40 +0000 UTCWhat about Hidden Figures? Did Ashleigh already do that one?
Todd Lower
2025-02-01 08:08:09 +0000 UTCDo the Right Thing is the most important film on this list.
Sally Haskell
2025-01-22 22:41:04 +0000 UTCI would definitely replace Glory with Mississippi Burning and I'd add To Kill a Mockingbird, A Time to Kill and Higher Learning
Missy Schmader
2025-01-21 06:30:13 +0000 UTCI'm glad you brought that up Mike well done
Missy Schmader
2025-01-21 06:26:52 +0000 UTCThese are ok picks but I'd add a few at take a couple off we have so many good black movies that not a lot of reactors do
Missy Schmader
2025-01-21 06:25:40 +0000 UTCThese are ok picks i guess but some are true story's against made up ones based on the culture I think they need separate polls
Missy Schmader
2025-01-21 06:24:17 +0000 UTCI've said it before, and I'll say it again, Soul Food! An *excellent* movie!

2025-01-21 00:41:09 +0000 UTC42. The Jackie Robinson Story. One of the best movies I've ever seen.
Matthew Maxon
2025-01-20 20:20:23 +0000 UTCYou should just watch the first three, regardless of which wins. They are each important films that everyone should see at least once. Seriously, do each for February. I doubt too many would complain, and even if they did, they would be wrong.
Tony Rogers
2025-01-20 17:12:22 +0000 UTCI voted for it too. It’s a great movie.
nycDawn
2025-01-20 15:50:28 +0000 UTCI would call it loosely based on reality.
Cosmic Slice
2025-01-19 23:26:58 +0000 UTCRight??? Such a powerful movie.
Cosmic Slice
2025-01-19 23:24:59 +0000 UTCCan’t go wrong with Glory, Do The Right Thing, or Boyz n the Hood.
Jim Altman
2025-01-19 09:53:47 +0000 UTCMoonlight is a masterpiece. It challenges some audiences but broke a lot of barriers and won best picture for a reason. Keep it in mind for future polls. Glory is also amazing.
Lionbarber
2025-01-19 06:33:09 +0000 UTCShe has watched Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, yes.
Tyler Foster
2025-01-19 00:28:57 +0000 UTCNot particularly surprising: at a glance, I see 4 Selma reactions on YouTube to 20 Glory reactions.
Tyler Foster
2025-01-19 00:28:41 +0000 UTCI haven't seen Do the Right Thing but I saw Siskel and Ebert praise it as a very important film and being absolutely shocked that it was ignored at the Oscars. Now I really want to see it.
Matthew Vandiver
2025-01-18 23:22:34 +0000 UTCI meeeeaannnn...the title alone should have been what directed everyone's voting finger, RIIIGGHT?😁
CinWin
2025-01-18 23:19:05 +0000 UTCExcellent list!
CinWin
2025-01-18 23:17:17 +0000 UTCCOOLLEY HIGH
CinWin
2025-01-18 23:13:49 +0000 UTCFRIDAY is totally a must-see! As well as the sequels!
CinWin
2025-01-18 23:11:56 +0000 UTCYou misspelled CARMEN JONES (1954)... based on the opera CARMEN. 😏 I think the ROOTS (1977) miniseries is also something you should consider.
AuntVes
2025-01-18 22:24:21 +0000 UTCI am surprised that "I'm Gonna Get You, Sucka!" or "Undercover Brother" aren't on the list.
R Kelly Coker
2025-01-18 21:42:52 +0000 UTCHow is Selma losing a Black History Month poll? Lol. Lord....
Spocktacular
2025-01-18 21:24:50 +0000 UTCI saw in the Heat of the Night listed and I’d second that. Have you already done Guess Whose Coming to Dinner? It’s slow but epic
Saavik
2025-01-18 19:59:14 +0000 UTCit's rather lengthy but "Roots"1979
Steven Clem
2025-01-18 19:22:25 +0000 UTCHollywood Shuffle (1987) would be a great addition to this poll.
Michael Buhl
2025-01-18 19:02:29 +0000 UTCMen of Honor starring Cuba Gooding Jr.
SnakeandNape
2025-01-18 18:39:17 +0000 UTCno its not. its what happened.
Leigh Nathaniel Silver
2025-01-18 18:36:26 +0000 UTCPlease don’t do Glory even if it wins. It’s a white savior movie
Mike B
2025-01-18 17:13:05 +0000 UTCPlease consider watching the movie "Amistad," from 1997.
Cindy Byrne
2025-01-18 17:00:13 +0000 UTCDo the Right Thing was our vote, but Boyz n the Hood was a close second. I would also say that Friday, while a comedy, has a great message that too often gets overlooked.
Cass&Jason
2025-01-18 16:56:31 +0000 UTCConsidering the topic, Selma should be leading this by a long way. Not Glory.
Marcus
2025-01-18 16:55:40 +0000 UTCHow about a couple of Sidney Poitier classics, All The Young Men and In The Heat Of The Night. A couple of of other classics would be A Soldiers Story starring Howard Rollins and Denzel Washington and Sergeant Rutledge starring Woody Strode who was also in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.
karl balstad
2025-01-18 16:38:38 +0000 UTCMen of Ho or would have been a good addition too. Just a suggestion
Leaf on the Wind
2025-01-18 16:19:13 +0000 UTCSo the movie directed by a white guy is winning. Interesting...
_tragicmike
2025-01-18 15:57:04 +0000 UTCNot on the list but would love to see a reaction to Lean on Me with Morgan Freeman. (Based on a true story)
Christine
2025-01-18 15:56:40 +0000 UTCLOL Cameran Jones - Carmen. All great flicks, but I'm voting for Do The Right Thing.
Jassell B
2025-01-18 15:55:10 +0000 UTCBoyz in the Hood is so good!
MrBamaRed
2025-01-18 15:55:00 +0000 UTCI'm gonna suggest a movie made by black filmmakers and that's not about struggling. Spike Lee's School Daze, or Crooklyn or to keep it light I'm Gonna Get You Sucka.
djhyjak
2025-01-18 15:44:36 +0000 UTCGlory!
Charlie Heist
2025-01-18 15:43:08 +0000 UTCFor a good black comedy they should add Uptown Saturday Night with Sidney Poitier.
Bill Bevins
2025-01-18 15:37:37 +0000 UTCI could see some people being offended if she were do to undercover brother for black history if it was her only movie for it. I am not one of those people cause the movie is hilarious but I can just see people getting offended
Elisa H.
2025-01-18 15:36:35 +0000 UTCVoted for Glory. A good movie for Black History Month would be Uptown Saturday Night. It's a comedy with Sidney Poitier.
Bill Bevins
2025-01-18 15:35:33 +0000 UTCIsn't that already on the channel ?
Elisa H.
2025-01-18 15:34:12 +0000 UTCGlory! For sure a great movie!
Gio Vidrio
2025-01-18 15:32:17 +0000 UTCGlory is one of my favorite films ever made.
Kristen
2025-01-18 15:31:03 +0000 UTCDo Glory as just like, a regular movie, or a war movie. Do a great film from one of the great black filmmakers (these others are great choices!) for Black History Month.
Chris
2025-01-18 15:26:52 +0000 UTCRegardless of the outcome of this poll, Do The Right Thing, Glory, and Boys n the Hood are all films that the channel should explore at some point, in the spirit of revisiting old and classic movies
Joseph Ricks
2025-01-18 15:26:36 +0000 UTCSo Many Good Movies!!
Michael Parker
2025-01-18 15:19:41 +0000 UTCAgreed but the following week must be ‘white chicks’.
Kenn E Wayne
2025-01-18 15:15:31 +0000 UTCI’ve been waiting for you to start going down this rabbit hole. Higher Learning, poetic justice, drumline, house party, menace to society, the Friday franchise, save the last dance, and last but not least don’t be a menace while drinking your juice in the hood.
Kenn E Wayne
2025-01-18 15:12:40 +0000 UTCI was so confident I'd be in the majority what is happening 😭
JC
2025-01-18 15:07:37 +0000 UTCMissed opportunity to include Beverly Hills Cop
Omni
2025-01-18 15:06:12 +0000 UTCTough but I *have* to go with Selma....the movie is too good to choose anything else.
Cosmic Slice
2025-01-18 15:05:58 +0000 UTCFor me it's gotta be Do the Right Thing
JC
2025-01-18 15:05:29 +0000 UTC"Black History Month is an insult. You're going to relegate my history to a month... Also 'African-American' is an insult. I don't subscribe to that title. Black people have had different titles all the way back to the N-word and I do not know how these things get such a grip, but everyone uses 'African-American'." -- Morgan Freeman on "Black History Month".
Bryan Fritchie
2025-01-18 15:05:13 +0000 UTCAt some point you might want to put Undercover Brother (comedy) into a poll. If you end up doing a 2nd Black History Month poll, it would be a good candidate.
Sir Friendzone
2025-01-18 15:04:19 +0000 UTCTough choices. All great.
