revote David lynch poll
Added 2025-01-17 16:11:24 +0000 UTCgot rid of twin peaks added elephant man.
in case you haven't heard - David Lynch passed away.
After my Mulholland Drive reaction; I'm kinda surprised y'all wanted me to do a poll but I know he's been a heavy hitter in the movie realm so it only seems fair! and I can't judge this dude by just ONE movie that I didn't understand.
As January is all booked up - this won't be available until February 3rd so let me know what you want me to watch in memory of him!
Comments
Wild at Heart should totally be on that list instead of DUNE. Lynch considers Dune his failure due to not having total control over the film & his vision fully realized. I like Dune, but for you Ashleigh, Wild At Heart should definitely be on this list and is one of Lynch's films that I think you would entirely enjoy.

2025-02-01 22:54:03 +0000 UTCWILD AT HEART!!!!!!!

2025-02-01 08:52:09 +0000 UTCOf these choices, of any that would be something Ashleigh could possibly like, I say Elephant Man has the best chance. She might actually enjoy that one. Possibly Dune, but it's pretty long. so good chance not. The rest I believe she wouldn't enjoy, so why pick those?

2025-01-20 17:16:16 +0000 UTC"The Straight Story" is one David Lynch directed movie I know you'll love Ashleigh.

2025-01-18 18:33:48 +0000 UTCI did not know there was a Twin Peaks movie, but I think she'd love the show. I haven't seen any of these so I'll pass on voting and see what more knowledgeable people pick.

2025-01-18 05:48:14 +0000 UTCI don't think The Elephant Man is available on streaming. Although given the interest after the passing of David Lynch the streaming services might restore it to availability. One reason I like hard copy media is becaue the streaming services can get rid of stuff at their whim and I am denined access to some wonderful films like that one. If it does, then I do recommend a box of tissues. It is one of better films that David Lynch directed.
Stephen Koehler
2025-01-18 03:32:30 +0000 UTCWild at Heart always gets left out. Is there a single reaction to it anywhere on YouTube? Nicholas Cage, Laura Dern, and Willem Dafoe. Great cast. Wild story. Nick Cage being about as Nick Cage as he can be. LOL

2025-01-18 02:21:11 +0000 UTCPLEASE begging now 3+ years need a reaction to Robin William in Bicentennial Man

2025-01-18 01:00:05 +0000 UTCWild is my favorite David Lynch. It's the craziest too but also dark humor to it and it's outrageous

2025-01-18 00:08:18 +0000 UTCGotta do Major League for Bob Uecker! One of my all-time favorite baseball movies. And it's got ya boy Wesley Snipes!
Joe Blankenship
2025-01-17 23:25:21 +0000 UTCI'm going with the majority on this one. I haven't seen any of his stuff. I never got into Twin Peaks so I can't comment on that. I'll have to go watch the Mullholland Drive reaction.

2025-01-17 22:56:48 +0000 UTCI think Ashleigh would love THE ELEPHANT MAN (1980), it's based on a true tale, of course. Most of them are so good. I do hope she'll watch most of them, eventually. I still voted for BLUE VELVET (1986), though. π

2025-01-17 22:14:45 +0000 UTCBEFORE the first 2 seasons of the show?!? how?!? :D

2025-01-17 22:14:00 +0000 UTCLynch is one of those directors where his stuff really isn't for me, but I have a lot of respect for him and his work. That being said, omg I'm so glad that Elephant Man might win. It's the only one of his movies that I truly like.
Spocktacular
2025-01-17 22:13:33 +0000 UTCAbsolutely. I know he wasn't known for his acting career but a movie tribute to this giant of Americana would be so great. He meant so much to me and everyone that lives here in Wisconsin.
David Zabel
2025-01-17 21:50:40 +0000 UTCI agree with you. Thanks for letting me know about the movie
Sarah L.
2025-01-17 21:45:16 +0000 UTCJoan Plowright passed away yesterday. For a poll I suggest: Dennis The Menace (1993) 101 Dalmations (1996) Bringing Down The House (2003) The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008)
Katie Jackson
2025-01-17 21:39:43 +0000 UTCI'm bummed that you're not watching Twin Peaks. I would love to see your reaction to it.

2025-01-17 21:28:47 +0000 UTCDon't get me wrong. It is now one of my favorite BAD movies... Google "Pug Atraides" LOL Just that as a memorial I'd go with a well respected film of his.

2025-01-17 21:20:19 +0000 UTCAshley, you won't get enough votes for The Straight Story, but watch it for yourself. I think you will really like it. Then you can chose (or not) to do a reaction video.
GORDON MORSE
2025-01-17 21:12:38 +0000 UTCYou should do Twin Peaks and then you can do Fire Walk with Me! Twin Peaks is my FAAAVORITE show, and I think you would LOVE it! It's weird and wonderful!
Nicole
2025-01-17 21:09:22 +0000 UTCShe's already seen Mulholland Drive and was completely confused and unmoved by it -- if we then made her watch Eraserhead we'd lose her on Lynch forever.
Charity Konusser (the chonus)
2025-01-17 20:39:42 +0000 UTCThis is what I was saying over on the first poll - if she watched another David Lynch film that she found weird or impenetrable, we'd never get her to watch another... or maybe one day Twin Peaks, which I think she'd LOVE.
Charity Konusser (the chonus)
2025-01-17 20:38:36 +0000 UTCExcellent point. I should probably switch my vote. I have not seen any of the movies on the list so I have no real opinion
Sarah L.
2025-01-17 19:50:11 +0000 UTCWhen they handed out glosseries to the audience as we went into the theater, I knew we were in for a stinker. If you need the audience to look a term up on a glossary to understand what's going on...then you have failed as a storyteller. And as a fan of the book, and a Sting fan I wanted it to work....and....it just didn't. Besides I Don't think he'd want to be memorialized with project he hated so much he sued to remove his name from it. Hence "Directed by Alan Smithee"
Blu
2025-01-17 19:48:18 +0000 UTCWhile I understand the idea of throwing her in the deep end, I do think The Elephant Man will make for a better reaction because she'll probably like it, and then maybe she'll be more receptive to Blue Velvet. If she saw Eraserhead and disliked it after watching Mulholland Dr. (which I think is possible), then I don't think she'd ever watch another Lynch, which would be unfortunate, because I do think it's possible she'll like Blue Velvet and/or Lost Highway, as well as The Straight Story or even Dune. And maybe, after she's accustomed to Lynch, she might be more receptive to Eraserhead than she would have otherwise been.
Tyler Foster
2025-01-17 19:44:25 +0000 UTCIt was intentionally removed from the poll because the movie should not be watched without watching the show first, as the movie presumes you know the answer to the show's central mystery.
Tyler Foster
2025-01-17 19:43:10 +0000 UTCIf Twin Peaks; Fire Walk With Me (the film not the show) was available I would have voted for that, I also think you would like Wild at Heart(not on the list.)
Sally Haskell
2025-01-17 19:01:08 +0000 UTCEraserhead losing so badly makes me sad. For a one-off, we might as well put Ashleigh in the deep end. Also, I watched it twice over 24 hours. The first time it felt like an interminable horror movie. The second time it felt like a snappy in comedy. Itβs really a wild movie.
Mike C
2025-01-17 18:44:30 +0000 UTCI didn't know who she was. Swear to God.
Lynette Cummins
2025-01-17 18:18:37 +0000 UTCI think Eraserhead is the most extreme of the bunch, and The Elephant Man is probably the best suited to Ashleigh's tastes, but I voted for Blue Velvet because it was my introduction to David Lynch and I really like it.
Michael Buhl
2025-01-17 18:17:22 +0000 UTCBlue Velvet would be more to Ashleigh's taste I think. Elephant Man is fantastic too.
Stezio Decardi
2025-01-17 18:09:06 +0000 UTCTwin Peaks is best to watch as the series. You should have that as a series option at some point.

2025-01-17 17:46:47 +0000 UTCStraight Story is the most normal movie you can get from David Lynch... So, I'd go with that at this point

2025-01-17 17:30:51 +0000 UTCI think you would really dig Twin Peaks tbh

2025-01-17 17:25:38 +0000 UTCI agree. Major League
Sarah L.
2025-01-17 17:18:47 +0000 UTCBesides Twin Peaks, I have seen little of David Lynch's stuff. I am going with Dune since there is a reboot, and I think it would be interesting to see the original.
Sarah L.
2025-01-17 17:18:10 +0000 UTCjuuuuust a bit outside. π
Lynette Cummins
2025-01-17 17:16:54 +0000 UTCHmm, if you didn't get Mulholland Drive you might not understand the rest, he is known for making surrealist, dreamlike films. Mulholland Drive was one of his most commercial films... Blue Velvet is his other, and it is also a little clearer to grasp.

2025-01-17 17:05:26 +0000 UTCBob Uecker -- MAJOR LEAGUE
David Harrison
2025-01-17 17:01:06 +0000 UTCThe idea of watching Ashleigh react to Eraserhead fills me with too much joy. π€£
Nestor Custodio
2025-01-17 16:49:35 +0000 UTCCan we also get a Major League reaction in memory of Bob Uecker please
Michael Taylor
2025-01-17 16:39:45 +0000 UTCI mean I'm still voting Dune cause nostalgia but good move making that change ππΎ
Elisa H.
2025-01-17 16:38:27 +0000 UTCI went Eraserhead, irrespective of her potential reaction to it. It is the quintessential Lynchian movie in my mind
Estersdoll
2025-01-17 16:35:55 +0000 UTCAs I WAS SAYINGβ¦ LMAO! Iβd normally choose Lost Highway for the creep factor, but you ought to see Blue Velvet at least once in your life. π
Gio Vidrio
2025-01-17 16:33:13 +0000 UTCYeah, I still voted for Blue Velvet. but won't be mad at all if Elephant Man wins. Both are pretty great but the Elephant fella has more of a mass appeal for sure.
Tony Williams
2025-01-17 16:31:29 +0000 UTCThat was cool that Ashleigh revised her poll based on the comments. I definitely went with The Elephant Man.
Lynette Cummins
2025-01-17 16:28:26 +0000 UTCEveryone is so kind in voting Elephant Man. I personally wanted to see what Eraserhead did to you.

2025-01-17 16:25:45 +0000 UTCOnly if she watches it elevated.

2025-01-17 16:25:27 +0000 UTCGOOD! The Elephant Man. I think you'll like that one Ashleigh.
James Sharp
2025-01-17 16:24:00 +0000 UTCThere you go. Elephant Man for sure.
Micah Mann
2025-01-17 16:22:18 +0000 UTCYeah lol, elephant man is a lot more straight forward so she would probably like that one.
Jonathan Wiking
2025-01-17 16:21:33 +0000 UTCExcept we also have to take into account Ashleigh's experience with Mulholland Drive - we don't want her to waste a tribute being confused for two hours
Charity Konusser (the chonus)
2025-01-17 16:20:24 +0000 UTCElephant Man is not particularly easy, but none of Lynch's work is easy. Ashleigh might be interested to know that Mel Brooks produced the film.
Curtis Martin
2025-01-17 16:20:08 +0000 UTCYessssss Elephant Man all the way!
Charity Konusser (the chonus)
2025-01-17 16:19:22 +0000 UTCYeah, eraserhead and tein peaks the show represent himpretry well.
Jonathan Wiking
2025-01-17 16:17:35 +0000 UTCStill going for Lost Highway. I think it has the best chance for Ashleigh to enjoy it.
Cosmic Slice
2025-01-17 16:16:49 +0000 UTCI love The Straight Story, but it's kind of an outlier in his filmography in a lot of ways. I feel like one of his more surreal films would be a more fitting way to honor his legacy given that's primarily what he was known for.
Brandon Melling
2025-01-17 16:16:27 +0000 UTCFeeling sad for Straight story, good movie but its competing against some heavy hitting greats like Elephant man and blue valvet, poor boy didn't stand a chance. Probably his most wholesome flick.
Jonathan Wiking
2025-01-17 16:14:19 +0000 UTCStill the only time I will steadfastly 'Support the Blue' π
Michael Parker
2025-01-17 16:13:44 +0000 UTCThey're all good choices but Elephant Man is Lynch's best movie. It's gotta be Elephant Man.
