2024-12-13 18:37:11 +0000 UTCThis is my 3rd or 4th time watching, and I've gotta agree with you, it does get better on repeat viewings, but I'm still annoyed by how much it missed with its humor. I really noticed this time that Thor doing the "I'm just saying words because I'm an awkward guy" thing really started to get old very quickly, and that vibe never really went away. But it's far from the trash so many people want to argue the MCU has become. 5 of my personal top 10 MCU projects have come out post-Endgame (Agatha, WandaVision, No Way Home, Hawkeye, Shang Chi), so I'm still just happy Ashleigh didn't listen to the naysayers

You could watch Electra, but let's face it, that movie sucked ass on levels I never knew existed. If you do end up watching Origins, I recommend going back through the Deadpool movies that you've already seen. There are a lot of jokes and references that went way over your head in your first viewings.

2024-12-13 02:03:30 +0000 UTCI only sort of liked this movie a little when I first saw it. I think this was my 5th time watching, twice alone, the other times watching full length reactions. This is a movie which gets better the more times you see it. I think subtitles help too, and being in a state of emotional vulnerability. The themes of loss and appreciating the life you have as you have it can be felt better that way, as well as selfless heroism regardless of what happens to you. The god and fantasy concepts are pretty far our there, but once you have them completely understood and let them ground you, let those stakes be felt, the humor feels more appropriate. The commentary about not believing in gods is also quite relatable. It helps me to think of it as a movie more like a Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure type movie with a bit of personal tragedy thrown in, rather than something which needs to be more dramatic and grounded, that I think a lot of people were wanting for Thor post Endgame. Sweet to see you're just plowing through this phase of Marvel. Hell yeah. I picked a good time to repatreonize. Keep the possibility of tissues nearby for Wakanda Forever.
