December Poll!

hi yes hello - I know what you're thinking "ASHLEIGH ITS NOT EVEN THANKSGIVING YET!"

Something I'll be doing in the new year is giving you early access EVEN EARLIER than just the day before! So many new patreon perks are in the works that I think y'all are going to FLIP!

BUT in order to get to THAT point it means we gotta lay that foundation now so, while it is still 75 degrees in Tennessee, we're looking ahead to December.

VOTE FOR YOU FAVORITE TWO!

Comments

How has the Thanksgiving film "Son In-Law" not on any lists? 😞

Stephanie Chapman

Krampus!!!

Norberto Aguiar

Thanks! I completely forgot about that. :-)

Bill Trumpler

Ashleigh, in addition to my pick of A Christmas Carol, since watching your reaction of School of Rock, and your uncertainty regarding Jack Black, I would also like to recommend "The Holiday," which has a lighter version of Jack, Black which I believe you would enjoy, as well as the rest of the cast in this nice feel good holiday movie.

William Stefens

I’d like to add my favorite Christmas movie- guarantee most folks haven’t seen it. Meet Me in St Louis starring Judy Garland

Nicole

My favorite one is The Year Without a Santa Claus (1974) with Snow Miser and Heat Miser!! Love all the Rankin/Bass stop motion ones. :) Thanks for recommending them.

Echo Moon

Yes the Little Women with Susan Sarandon, Claire Danes, Winona Ryder and Christian Bale!! I could watch that over and over (and have!)!

ssb031

Oh yes!! I LOVE that movie too! That's a great one!!

ssb031

I think the one with George C. Scott is by far the best! I watch it every year! I do love the older version with Albert Finney. It was the first one I ever saw, but it is not very faithful to the book. I am of the mind, if you are making a movie from a book, stay as faithful as you can to the book. As for Violent Night. I just love the premise!

Rosalind Matteson

You're all wrong it the Muppets version. ;-)

Liz Zero

Especially since the Muppet version is clearly the best and most definitive version of them all!

Liz Zero

YIKES!!! That one is rough to get through even for the Biggest SW fan!

Liz Zero

You're both wrong.... It's the Muppets. ;-)

Liz Zero

So bad it's almost good!

Liz Zero

I LOOOOOOVE this movie!! Jude Law at his yummiest!!!

Liz Zero

No one of note? Judy Davis happens to be one of my all time favorite actresses. Oh, yeah, and there's what's his face.

Indy Traveler

So many wonderful versions of The Christmas Carol (including Mr. Magoo) to choose from but despite George C. Scott starring, not my pick for best. There was even a very dark version (mini-series) in 2019. I like the older musical version (1970, Scrooge) and the 1951 version. The musical was remarkable because the man that wrote the songs for it had never written music before. You couldn't tell. Ashleigh should appreciate that Scrooge was played by Albert Finney who 33 later starred as the older version of Ed Bloom in Big Fish.

David Hayes

Still watch them EVERY year!

fire12wife

I was hoping this holiday season she’d get to watch “The Holiday” with Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet, It’s a good holiday flick and I think 🤔 she’d like it. Well, maybe next year now🤣.

Allie Henegan

I recall thinking this version of "A Christmas Carol" was mediocre. But what the heck do I know; apparently critics called it "the definitive version". Maybe it's time to watch it again...

N1nth Sh4dow

ABSOLUTELY! Such a great movie, with an even greater cast!

CinWin

I love love love THE HOLIDAY! Such a great cast!

CinWin

She just saw him in Final Destination…🤷🏻‍♂️

Art By Design

It isn't Christmas for my wife until she's seen "Emmett Otter" and "Bloom County's 'A Wish for Wings that Work.'" Sadly, Wish for Wings has so many dated references to the late 80s and early 90s that I'm not sure it would hold up.

David Shoemaker

I'd say watch it now. Horror movies don't have to be only done in October.

Kenton Kruger

I just saw the news about his passing this evening. I would def say watch Candyman next Hallobeans but another wonderful film with him in it (and he does such a good job) is The Man From Earth (2007). :) He shall be missed. He was such an underrated actor. When he played capt Sisko's son in the future on Star Trek DS9 in an episode he was brilliant...it was a dramatic role in which he had to cry and man he had me crying too. RIP Tony.

Echo Moon

So, Tony Todd just passed away (RIP) and now I guess the question is: Should Ashleigh watch "Candyman" in memory of him now, or wait until next October (since it is a horror movie)?

Anthony

Those are the stop-motion (and a few are regular animation) movies we had in the 80's for anyone who doesn't know

ssb031

Eight Crazy Nights is what I voted for. Don'no just like Adam Sandler this time.

Robert Dilley

I don't see where she's done any of the Rankin/Bass classics -Rudolph, Frosty, Jack Frost, Twas the Night Before Christmas.. There are 18 and they're mostly short so she could watch a couple at a time (maybe 3?) and have them be one reaction.. Maybe Rankin/Bass Wednesdays for Jinglebeans?

ssb031

Mine is the George C Scott one from 1984 so I'm super happy that's on the list.. although the animated one with Jim Carrey is not bad.

ssb031

Another great one!!!

ssb031

YESSSS!!!!!! oh my 80's heart is screaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ssb031

Not enough people are voting for Home for the Holidays. That's such a good one!!

Emily M.

Wish I could vote for Krampus twice

b nope

She reacted to this one last year

Bowkind

A Holiday Season without a version of "A Christmas Carol" is like a Season without EggNog...

James Falato

Violent Night is amaaaaaazing!

Tory L Turner

Yeah it's sad the Bond movies have stalled. I was hoping she would get to Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.

Lynette Cummins

Very lame joke: Too bad we didn't catch up with more Bond movies or you might have watched The World Is Not Enough with the holidays (it has a character called Christmas Jones)....

davidov

How about "Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas "? It's Jim Henson.

Maria Yarber

not any of these thanks

hogweed

What? No "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians?"

Elliot Nesterman

The Family Stone (2005) stars Dermot Mulroney, Sarah Jessica Parker, Dianne Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Luke Wilson, Claire Danes, and Craig T. Nelson. An uptight, liberal businesswoman accompanies her boyfriend to his eccentric and outgoing family's annual Christmas celebration and finds that she's a fish out of water in their free-spirited way of life! This movie is hysterical! I'd LOVE to see your reaction to it!

fire12wife

I'm surprised Arnold Schwarzenegger's Jingle All the Way isn't on the list.

Bill Trumpler

I think you’re missing 12 or 79

Susan Holly

For me no version of A Christmas Carol has topped the 1951 version with Alastair Sim. It is my favorite by far.

Daniel Goldberg

No Star wars Holiday special?

Mr Marvelous

KRAMPUS KRAMPUS KRAMPUS KRAMPUS!!!

EJN

She’s already seen A Muppet Christmas Carol and I think once you’ve seen one Christmas Carol, no need to see anymore.

EJN

Love actually, brilliant actors portray horrible people in a version of London that doesn’t really exist. But if you can get past all that it’s a good time.

Trevor Pritchard

Holiday Affair one million billion percent

Skip

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS IS A THANKSGIVING MOVIE!!! it would be a GREAT movie to do for thanksgiving!!!

Ashley Thomas

the family man would be a good one. christmas movie with nicolas cage.

Ashley Thomas

love actually has aged so poorly

Ashley Thomas

The Ref is a great shout. I chose Violent Night for this poll. They're working on a sequel, which I hope they set in a church, JUST so they can call it "Violent Night: Holy Fight"

PieHard13

I loathe Love Actually but it’s so popular and so often referenced that it’s worth watching anyway. And most people love it.

Kristen North

Good movie rec for a Xmas vibes movie that’s not super Christmas-y is Serendipity with John Cusack and several other great actors. One of my favorites.

Emilee Orf

Violent night is a holiday must pick in our house now. Great and hilarious.

Brittany Winter

Violent Night is hilarious. Definitely worth a Christmas season watch.

Mason Peatross

Why not make your first Jim Carrey review Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas?

James Sharp

I sent a card to one, but it came back. Where on the YouTube channel would I find it?

Rosalind Matteson

Movies that are perfect for JINGLE BEANS are: The Holiday The Thin Man The Apartment Remember the Night Christmas in Connecticut (original version) The Bishop's Wife The Man Who Came to Dinner (original version) All That Heaven Allows All This and Heaven Too The Lion in Winter (original version) Meet Me in St. Louis Holiday The Lemondrop Kid Joyeau Noel It Happened on Fifth Avenue Holiday Affair March of the Wooden Soldiers Babes in Toyland P2 The Shop Around the Corner Beyond Tomorrow I'll Be Seeing You 3 Godfathers (John Wayne version) Trail of Robin Hood The Holly and the Ivy We're No Angels Come to the Stable Holiday Inn Susan Slept Here Pocketful of Miracles George Balanchine's The Nutcracker The Man Who Invented Christmas 1941 Little Women (1994 version) Black Christmas (2019 version) Wonka Whoever Slew Auntie Roo? A Muppet Family Christmas

Meredith Shivers

Krampus and Love Actually for the W!

Gio Vidrio

Scent of a Woman is sooooo good.

Lynette Cummins

Voting for CC84 because David Warner (RIP) is one of my favs.

Chelsea

no Scent of a Woman for Turkey Day

Leigh Nathaniel Silver

Bleh... None of the above.

Emily Gray

Interesting options would be Lost in Paradise and The Lemon drop Kid.

PlaceForFaith

Love Actually is probably one of the worst Christmas movies. Everyone is messed up and awful and there isn’t an example of real love in it.

PlaceForFaith

Please watch Home for the Holidays for Thanksgiving it is so good!

Maddie

Home for the Holidays is a Thanksgiving movie, not Xmas. Mixing it in with the other titles puts it at a disadvantage unfortunately.

Rebecca Monk

It seems to be among the lowest vote getters but Home for the Holidays is FANTASTIC!

Andy Schreiber

If we all work together, we can collectively defeat Love Actually, which is very bad, and perhaps convince Ashleigh to instead watch About a Boy, an infinitely superior British comedy/drama set around Christmas.

Tyler Foster

Violent night! Love that movie ❤️❤️

Grumpy Santa

Oh damn, krampus and violent night against each other

Elisa H.

For a future Christmas Poll please consider adding Just Friends. Comedy with Ryan Reynolds in it.

Garrie Morris

Pieces of April is a lovely Thanksgiving movie. I'm honestly surprised by the lack of The Ref this year. Ashleigh - it might help to have a "nomination box" from which you pull the top few for a poll. Just a thoght.

Curtis Martin

Love actually is great. Last Christmas is better. In terms of British Christmas movies.

Renee Lishka

So what you're saying is "Bah humbug?"

Joe Blankenship

I like that one too.

Joe Blankenship

I've actually never seen Love Actually, but I know it gets referenced all the time so I need to check it off. I voted that and Krampus.

Joe Blankenship

Home for the Hoidays is GREAT!

Michael Parker

Yes! A must-see XMas movie.

ShartheHeretic

Everyone knows "A Christmas Carol," but the 1984 version is a must see! George C. Scott is the greatest Scrooge of all time!

Shawn Ravenfire

Also, I would like to submit for your consideration - The Ref (1994) I watch it yearly and listen to the soundtrack non-stop starting now.

Jassell B

If Ashleigh needs a suggestion for later in December I would suggest The Holiday (2006) with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz. 🎄

Lynette Cummins

Girl, you've never seen Love? It come on a loop every Christmas?

Jassell B

I really enjoy the Patrick Stewart version as well

Katie Jackson

The Ref is hilarious. Great suggestion.

Lynette Cummins

I don't do Christmas until after Thanksgiving.

Bryan Fritchie

Krampus in night vision!!

Brandon Royce

I think Ashleigh would like The Ref. Definitely not a traditional Christmas movie but a lot of fun.

Katie Jackson

I'm still in a HalloBeans mood. I voted for Violent Night.🔪🔪 Then for normal Christmas viewing: A Christmas Carol. 🎄

Lynette Cummins

Not hot take, love actually is actually about a lot of messed up lives and cringy situations. I don't know why people think this is a sweet movie about love. But it is a Christmas movie with drama and a few laughs.

Adam Doyle

I won't vote because I don't like any of those

Scott Macalino

I'm pretty sure you can send it to her PO box. I'm not sure where it's listed here but it is listed on her YouTube channel

Kayla Fehribach

Deck the Halls is almost impossible to watch, so bad but not in the fun way.

Adam Doyle

Oh man, it's such a hard decision! I have to go with love actually, it gets me every time.

Kayla Fehribach

Love Actually has got this one in the bag

Skip

How do I go about sending you a Christmas card?

Rosalind Matteson

I'm of the group that can't stand love actually, but it's worth at least one watch just to see how absurd it is.

Jacob Jones

Love actually so good. I use to rewatch it so much. A one time watch is hard cause they are all interconnected some how and only see the signs on future viewings.

Marstux

Don't forget The Ref (uh, no one of note 😇) and/or Mixed Nuts! (Steve Martin! Madeline Kahn!)

Cass&Jason

The 1984 version with George C. Scott is absolutely the superior version and I'll not be taking questions at this time.

Gregg Frostrom, LD 19 Arizona House Candidate

While I'm excited for some of these, I also would like to request the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, since you're right around the time when it aired in your chronological watch-thru (you missed getting Marvel's Werewolf By Night special for Hallowbeans sadly but that can be viewed at any time). Also, I know you're watching Buffy til the end of the year, but I wish you'd fit in Marvel's Hawkeye TV series, as that's Christmas-based as well.

Insane Ian

Voted for two that are there but I also want to do a write-in vote for Anna and the Apocalypse! It’s a British, musical, comedy, teen, zombie Christmas movie!!

Stewart Shutler

Please do Home for the Holidays for Thanksgiving.

Rebecca Howe

You can’t go wrong with A Christmas Carol.

Nick Russo

Love Actually for Alan Rickman!

Brandie Woodward
