December Poll!
Added 2024-11-07 23:00:09 +0000 UTChi yes hello - I know what you're thinking "ASHLEIGH ITS NOT EVEN THANKSGIVING YET!"
Something I'll be doing in the new year is giving you early access EVEN EARLIER than just the day before! So many new patreon perks are in the works that I think y'all are going to FLIP!
BUT in order to get to THAT point it means we gotta lay that foundation now so, while it is still 75 degrees in Tennessee, we're looking ahead to December.
VOTE FOR YOU FAVORITE TWO!

2024-11-15 12:59:15 +0000 UTCAshleigh, in addition to my pick of A Christmas Carol, since watching your reaction of School of Rock, and your uncertainty regarding Jack Black, I would also like to recommend "The Holiday," which has a lighter version of Jack, Black which I believe you would enjoy, as well as the rest of the cast in this nice feel good holiday movie.
William Stefens
2024-11-14 17:33:52 +0000 UTCI’d like to add my favorite Christmas movie- guarantee most folks haven’t seen it. Meet Me in St Louis starring Judy Garland

2024-11-14 04:58:43 +0000 UTCMy favorite one is The Year Without a Santa Claus (1974) with Snow Miser and Heat Miser!! Love all the Rankin/Bass stop motion ones. :) Thanks for recommending them.
Echo Moon
2024-11-13 14:14:07 +0000 UTCYes the Little Women with Susan Sarandon, Claire Danes, Winona Ryder and Christian Bale!! I could watch that over and over (and have!)!

2024-11-13 01:29:14 +0000 UTCOh yes!! I LOVE that movie too! That's a great one!!
ssb031
2024-11-13 01:24:55 +0000 UTCI think the one with George C. Scott is by far the best! I watch it every year! I do love the older version with Albert Finney. It was the first one I ever saw, but it is not very faithful to the book. I am of the mind, if you are making a movie from a book, stay as faithful as you can to the book. As for Violent Night. I just love the premise!

2024-11-12 20:24:30 +0000 UTCYou're all wrong it the Muppets version. ;-)
Liz Zero
2024-11-12 17:15:16 +0000 UTCEspecially since the Muppet version is clearly the best and most definitive version of them all!

2024-11-11 14:07:49 +0000 UTCSo many wonderful versions of The Christmas Carol (including Mr. Magoo) to choose from but despite George C. Scott starring, not my pick for best. There was even a very dark version (mini-series) in 2019. I like the older musical version (1970, Scrooge) and the 1951 version. The musical was remarkable because the man that wrote the songs for it had never written music before. You couldn't tell. Ashleigh should appreciate that Scrooge was played by Albert Finney who 33 later starred as the older version of Ed Bloom in Big Fish.
David Hayes
2024-11-11 02:18:16 +0000 UTCStill watch them EVERY year!

2024-11-10 19:42:43 +0000 UTCI was hoping this holiday season she’d get to watch “The Holiday” with Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet, It’s a good holiday flick and I think 🤔 she’d like it. Well, maybe next year now🤣.
Allie Henegan
2024-11-10 19:40:57 +0000 UTCI recall thinking this version of "A Christmas Carol" was mediocre. But what the heck do I know; apparently critics called it "the definitive version". Maybe it's time to watch it again...

2024-11-10 03:06:12 +0000 UTCIt isn't Christmas for my wife until she's seen "Emmett Otter" and "Bloom County's 'A Wish for Wings that Work.'" Sadly, Wish for Wings has so many dated references to the late 80s and early 90s that I'm not sure it would hold up.
David Shoemaker
2024-11-09 14:10:55 +0000 UTCI'd say watch it now. Horror movies don't have to be only done in October.
Kenton Kruger
2024-11-09 08:00:02 +0000 UTCI just saw the news about his passing this evening. I would def say watch Candyman next Hallobeans but another wonderful film with him in it (and he does such a good job) is The Man From Earth (2007). :) He shall be missed. He was such an underrated actor. When he played capt Sisko's son in the future on Star Trek DS9 in an episode he was brilliant...it was a dramatic role in which he had to cry and man he had me crying too. RIP Tony.
Echo Moon
2024-11-09 04:07:43 +0000 UTCSo, Tony Todd just passed away (RIP) and now I guess the question is: Should Ashleigh watch "Candyman" in memory of him now, or wait until next October (since it is a horror movie)?
Anthony
2024-11-09 03:22:54 +0000 UTCThose are the stop-motion (and a few are regular animation) movies we had in the 80's for anyone who doesn't know

2024-11-08 23:07:04 +0000 UTCEight Crazy Nights is what I voted for. Don'no just like Adam Sandler this time.
Robert Dilley
2024-11-08 23:06:32 +0000 UTCI don't see where she's done any of the Rankin/Bass classics -Rudolph, Frosty, Jack Frost, Twas the Night Before Christmas.. There are 18 and they're mostly short so she could watch a couple at a time (maybe 3?) and have them be one reaction.. Maybe Rankin/Bass Wednesdays for Jinglebeans?
ssb031
2024-11-08 23:06:15 +0000 UTCMine is the George C Scott one from 1984 so I'm super happy that's on the list.. although the animated one with Jim Carrey is not bad.

2024-11-08 15:53:52 +0000 UTCVery lame joke: Too bad we didn't catch up with more Bond movies or you might have watched The World Is Not Enough with the holidays (it has a character called Christmas Jones)....

2024-11-08 14:15:25 +0000 UTCThe Family Stone (2005) stars Dermot Mulroney, Sarah Jessica Parker, Dianne Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Luke Wilson, Claire Danes, and Craig T. Nelson. An uptight, liberal businesswoman accompanies her boyfriend to his eccentric and outgoing family's annual Christmas celebration and finds that she's a fish out of water in their free-spirited way of life! This movie is hysterical! I'd LOVE to see your reaction to it!

2024-11-08 04:37:15 +0000 UTCThe Ref is a great shout. I chose Violent Night for this poll. They're working on a sequel, which I hope they set in a church, JUST so they can call it "Violent Night: Holy Fight"
PieHard13
2024-11-08 04:30:52 +0000 UTCI loathe Love Actually but it’s so popular and so often referenced that it’s worth watching anyway. And most people love it.

2024-11-07 23:56:56 +0000 UTCIf we all work together, we can collectively defeat Love Actually, which is very bad, and perhaps convince Ashleigh to instead watch About a Boy, an infinitely superior British comedy/drama set around Christmas.

2024-11-07 23:11:51 +0000 UTCNot hot take, love actually is actually about a lot of messed up lives and cringy situations. I don't know why people think this is a sweet movie about love. But it is a Christmas movie with drama and a few laughs.

2024-11-07 23:04:06 +0000 UTCWhile I'm excited for some of these, I also would like to request the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, since you're right around the time when it aired in your chronological watch-thru (you missed getting Marvel's Werewolf By Night special for Hallowbeans sadly but that can be viewed at any time). Also, I know you're watching Buffy til the end of the year, but I wish you'd fit in Marvel's Hawkeye TV series, as that's Christmas-based as well.
