In Memory Polls

all my socials are getting flooded for Maggie Smith and Kris Krisofferson passing away - sorry if this is breaking the news to you.

I cannot interrupt hallobeans - not because I love it but because of the giveaway. It doesn't make sense for me to do that.

All of the "in memory" polls will be for November.

Comments

I'm new to commenting in Patreon. Thought I put a post up for 'Sliding Doors' with Gwenneth Paltrow. As for an B&W oldie that made movie history His Girl Friday is a movie intentioned for speed: it set the record on fastest words spoken per minute in a movie. (Wikipedia - I know! I know! I did do Screen Analysis at university but can't find the quote I was after but Wikipedia supported the 'what I thought' it was) )with its fast-paced dialog 'His Girl Friday' with Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell. Or 'Bringing up Baby'

Sunlit_Soul

Shes seen young frankenstein

Leigh Nathaniel Silver

That too but everyone reacts to that one while nobody does Mr. Mom. It would be refreshing to do something new and Ashleigh can be a trend setter.

David Zabel

Also Young Frankenstein!

ssb031

Teri Garr passed away today. She was great in Mr. Mom. Very good movie.

David Zabel

'Alice doesn't live here anymore' 1974 for Kris!❤

Celeste McAllister

Coming to America is a must!

Natasha Foster

I would also HAPPILY accept Midnight Run for John Ashton.

Jeff K

Yep. So sad.🙁

CinWin

The great Boomer passing has begun.

TheSingulatarian

Pat Garrett And Billy The Kid for Kris Kristofferson.

Karl Balstad

A Star is Born (1976) for Kris Kristofferson 🙏🏽

TheYo Show

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie

Leigh Nathaniel Silver

Craziness....and way too many reminders of how old I'm getting😑

CinWin

IKR? What is going on in the past week?

ssb031

Oh wow, now John Amos has passed.😢 I guess Coming 2 America is definitely on the poll now (so we'll get another JEJ movie, too)

CinWin

That would be awesome!

CinWin

Looks like Beverly Hills Cop 2 is a sure choice now.

CinWin

I agree with (Murder By Death) but also suggest (Hot Millions) a Comedy/Crime film from 1968.

Long-time Sci-Fi Enthusiast

I`d take Convoy or Millennium !!

Long-time Sci-Fi Enthusiast

Add a poll for the late John Ashton who revet passed also.

Scott Macalino

Hey, if she hasn’t seen Downton Abbey we have have her watch the series one for the next Wednesday tv thingy.

Travis Taylor

Sometimes we need to bore Ashleigh, she says she thinks she likes sci-fi so we need to show it isn’t all super exciting.

Travis Taylor

CONVOY!!!! “Yeah breaker 1-9 this here is Rubber Duck”

Travis Taylor

Tragically good in Guns of Navarone. (I actually watched it again a couple of days before he died. so, I assume I killed him.)

Travis Taylor

🤣😂

Blu

YES YES YES YES. All the not recognizing famous people will be fabulous.

Travis Taylor

Midnight Run for sure!

Travis Taylor

Big Top PW would be good for Ashleigh, some of the others big buckets of cry.

Travis Taylor

for Kris I’d like to put in Convoy, Millennium, or the Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea (it might be a bit much for the channel though). Or maybe Heaven’s Gate (it’s 3 2/3 of an hour long and it feels like 5)

Travis Taylor

For Maggie I’d like to Put in two of her 70’s selections. TRAVELS WITH my Aunt and Murder By Death.

Travis Taylor

I can't even imagine trying to pull together 2-3 tributes while trying to watch & edit for Hallowbeans so you are absolutely right to focus on that. Take your time & do what you have to do. We're not going anywhere 🤗

Vicious Trollop

Some more for Maggie Smith: Gosford Park, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Murder By Death, California Suite, A Room With A View, Death on the Nile (1978), & Evil Under the Sun. There are so many!

Vicious Trollop

Was just coming on here to recommend Lone Star. Just an incredible movie.

Vicious Trollop

Reading all the comments, I can see we're going to have some great options on the upcoming polls. For Maggie, I'll be torn between First Wive's Club and...well...a few others For Kris, I'm torn between A Star Is Born and Convoy For John, Beverly Hills Cop 2 or Midnight Run. A few other notable actors/musicians who passed this month... Kathryn Crosby (Operation Mad Ball...and so many more) Chad McQueen (The Karate Kid 1 & 2) Frankie Beverly (Get Rich Or Die Tryin')

CinWin

I personally love a movie Maggie Smith did called The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. Heavy piece but so good, she’s awesome and also has Sandra Bullock!

Jessica Pinhey

I'm sooooooo here for First Wive's Club! Such a fun movie and cast!

CinWin

Absolutely!!!

CinWin

Oh Lordy...meeee toooo!

CinWin

Definitely looks that way.😢

CinWin

Noooo...I hadn't heard about him.😢

CinWin

The original It was a TV movie

Brian Booher

"Millenium" doesn't quite work. It looks like a TV movie. Interesting premise but I think she would be bored by it. The book was better.

TheSingulatarian

Kristofferson's most accessible is the Barbara Streisand "A Star is Born".

TheSingulatarian

Last year you missed the fact that Angela Landsbury (Murder She Wrote) passed away. Her best performance in a movie was easily in the original Manchurian Candidate, starring Frank Sinatra.

WmT(Bill)Blake

Great! That gives us plenty of time to send you lots of movie options

Kayla Fehribach

Don't forget John Ashton.

David Zabel

BHC II, imo, is iconic and just and good as the first one. Axel F is my favourite film of 2024 so far.

PieHard13

I've never heard of "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" but apparently Maggie Smith won the Best Actress Oscar for it in 1970. I'd actually be curious to see something with a young Maggie Smith, seeing as how she's seemed 80 years old for the past 30 years.

Joe Blankenship

Not holding my breath for A New Leaf but I'm glad to see someone else mentioning this really, really great comedy.

Tyler Foster

With the rate we're suddenly going for celebrity deaths, all of November might be memorial movies!

George Ruth

The Secret Garden needs to be on the poll for Maggie Smith!

EJN

Well I checked, and Ashleigh has not seen Beverly Hills Cop 2 yet, (she has seen the first one) so definitely think she should give that a watch (and Midnight Run as well!)

Anthony

I will say this, if the movie that gets picked for Kris Kristofferson ends up being "Big Top Pee-Wee" I am just gonna lose it..

Anthony

I will join the chorus of recommending Lone Star for Kris Kristofferson. Maggie Smith had such an amazing career we would have a good time no matter what you watch Ashleigh

TaleenaS

You HAVE to add John Ashton to that memoriam list. He was in Beverly Hills Cop 1 & 2 AND, the 2nd best film EVER made . . . Midnight Run.

PieHard13

I'll suggest Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid for Kris Kristofferson

Mr Marvelous

I absolutely understand and assumed it wouldn’t be until November or later. So many people unfortunately keep passing away so it would take days to watch all their films in memoriam. I’ve already given my favorite Maggie Smith films 🎥 that are great and I think you would enjoy maybe better than what has been suggested repeatedly 🙂. People often forget about or sleep on her role in: The Secret Garden, First Wives Club and probably my most favorite: Divine Secrets of the YA-YA Sisterhood. With the latter resembling a combo of Fried Green Tomatoes and Steel Magnolias. Which I think 🤔 would be right up your alley with how much you loved both FGT and SM. Divine definitely touches on a few heavy or triggering topics but all 3 films (especially FWC & Divine have a star studded cast and great comedic lines that will be sure to make you laugh) end on a happy note or with a happy ending. I already know that they’re not likely to win any polls that they’d be put on because of the heavy hitters that have already been mentioned but you should definitely still check them out. I haven’t seen a whole lot of Kris Kristofferson or John Ashton films so I can’t make any recommendations for them unfortunately. Thx for all you do Ashleigh, stay safe with all these bad storms.

Allie Henegan

MURDER BY DEATH

Blu

Now for Kris poll I hope you have a Dolphin Tail in it

Ricky P Kraus

Another Maggie Smith movie I just remembered is from 1981 "Clash Of The Titans".

Dawne ~ Island Green Strong

Gosford Park, Murder By Death, Prime of Miss Jean Brodie all excellent choices for Maggie Smith (though my heart is with Gosford Park) Kris Kristofferson - A Star is Born with Barbra Streisand, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore

Charity Konusser (the chonus)

Another Maggie Smith movie to consider is from 1993 "The Secret Garden".

Dawne ~ Island Green Strong

of course... u can do the things whenever u want to do the things

Michael Tocci

Thanks!

Rumpus Parable

Kris's best performance was probably "Lone Star," but the role that was most like him was "Songwriter" with Willie Nelson.

Neil Brass

James Darren was excellent in "The Guns of Navarone."

Ted Little

First Wives Club. Secret Garden. First Exotic Marigold Hotel

Megan Jackson

Gorgeous man with a voice just as great. His role on DS9 was supposed to just be a bit part but turned into something iconic.

Cosmic Slice

I felt bad, although he was a little before my time. He was a hunk.

Indy Traveler

I'm apparently the only one sad enough about James Darren best known for the Gidget movies and Star Trek:DS9 dying. 😢 Also John Ashton died so might be time for more Beverly Hills Cop

Cosmic Slice

John Ashton - Midnight Run Kris - Convoy or Lone Star Dame Maggie - A Private Function

The Goateed Geek

Makes sense. ❤️

Cass&Jason

Ashleigh, do not stress yourself. You get to them whenever you can. Keep up the great work. You are loved and appreciated. Thank you for your videos. ❤️

Wally

Kris Kristofferson there is only one movie.... CONVOY!!!!

Stevilicious

And there's "Hot Millions", with Peter Ustinov.

Maria Torres

Sounds great! Looking forward to it!

Michael Parker

For Kris, an obvious choice is A Star Is Born, but I will also suggest Millenium which is a good sci-fi film.

Brian Booher

Midnight Run is the best!

Red Dwarf

I knew it would have to be in November. Plus, if you watch Buffy The Vampire Slayer, it could be in honor of Rutger Hauer, Luke Perry, Donald Sutherland and Paul Reubens, like an all-star tribute.

Brian Booher

For Maggie Smith most people would recommend The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, but I will recommend Murder by Death. For Kris Kristofferson I recommend Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. For John Ashton I will recommend Midnight Run.

Michael Buhl

Gosford Park for Maggie Smith please. It's the film that eventually led to Julian Fellows creating Downton Abbey.

Stephen Radzik

For Kris I would Highly recommend "Convoy" 1978. For Maggie I would recommend "Clash of The Titans" 1981.

Nick

For Maggie Smith I'll suggest: "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" (1969). A great film, Smith won the Oscar and BAFTA for her performance as the title character. With already strong credits, this is the movie that made her an international star. "California Suite" (1978). Her second Oscar win, for Best Supporting Actress. Neil Simon's West Coast follow-up to "Plaza Suite," it has an ensemble cast, including Jane Fonda, Alan Alda, Maggie Smith, Michael Caine, Walter Matthau, and Elaine May. Speaking of Walter Matthau and Elaine May, let me suggest "A New Leaf" (1971), a really fine comedy written and directed by May. No doubt it was their excellent chemistry in this one that led them to be cast together in "California Suite."

Elliot Nesterman

Theres also Murder by Death and Gosford Park

Leigh Nathaniel Silver

There is the Prime of Miss Jean Broadie, The third version of A star is born Evil Under the sun Welcome Home

Leigh Nathaniel Silver

Would love to see a reaction to "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" from 1969 with Maggie Smith.

Maria Yarber

Midnight Run is one of my absolute favorite movies but Beverly Hills Cop will dominate.

Kristen North

Maggie Smith: A Private Function or Murder By Death Kris Kristofferson: A Star Is Born or Big Top Pee-Wee

Stezio Decardi

You could just say "I can't interrupt Hallobeans because...it's Hallobeans" and it would be fine.

Paul Stelter

I’m not too sure of Maggie Smith that she’s hasn’t done, she was in Sister Act, but it’s been done. For Kris I’m hoping for an oldie but a goodie, Convoy.

Kenn E Wayne

Totally understand, expected this response.

Chrystina McKelvey

Thanks for the update. I was curious about it and this answers it. Sounds perfect. Gives everyone plenty of time to suggest great movies (First Wives Club, Exotic Marigold Hotel, etc…). Looking forward to Hallobeans!

Megan Jackson

That's fine. But I wonder which ones you haven't seen that their in. Blade and Harry Potter I believe you have already.

Brittany Winter

Thats fine, there is also John Ashton too, as he passed on the same day as Kris Kristofferson

Oliver- Smilliereacts

Agreed, they can wait

JC

Maggie & Kris will understand. It's HalloBeans season. 🎃🔪💀👻 We can watch one of their films in November/December.

Lynette Cummins

Wednesdays: Freaky, Happy Death Day, Jennifer’s Body, Idle Hands.

Jaren

100% agree. These things should not be rushed anyways

Mikey Hutchinson

Understandable, hope you have a good day.

Haley JoAnna

Yeah I assumed this would be the case and honestly makes sense.

Andrea Guay Colpitts

Sounds like a good plan.
