what you thought you heard was clapping. it was the sound effect of the cult clapping following the star vessel’s death and symbolized geto’s growing disdain towards humans, and was blended in to the rain and shower sound effects to give the impression of it naturally coming into his mind during his life. that’s also why the theme at the end of the episode is a more rhythmic clapping; it’s him finally weaponizing and living in acceptance of that hatred.
