So glad you loved the movie! It’s so wonderful and pure that you don’t fully understand why LBGTQIA+ would be worried about being out in straight environments. I will try to remember that for next pride and vote for some hard hitting movies that show more about the history and experience of gay pride.

yeah, those were different times...i was a kid during all this. bear in mind that male homosexuality was only made legal in 1967 in england and wales and 1981 in scotland! Even then the age of consent between men was 21 and could only happen in their own home (no hotels etc)....it wasnt lowered to 18 till 1994!!! AND it wasnt brought equal to hetero sex consent age of 16 till 2000. My mother was in a lesbian relationship all during the 60's till her partner died, then she met my father early 70's. He didnt find out she was bi till 2008 (they split late 80's). It wasnt till the late 80's really it became more acceptable in society - before that it was always kind of just to be made fun off or despised by the hetero population. Mary Whitehouse was a campaigner for censorship and religeous sexual restraint in the uk in the 80's - famous for cracking down on 'shocking' material in films such as horror and sex scenes. She was a great source of mockery in the circles i grew up in lol. Great film. :)
