If you watch "Grease" (which I haven't....) she's Rizzo there, but I know her best from a delicately twisted comedy written by Joan Rivers: "The Girl Most Likely To..." Channing was one of the brightest and most versatile movie and tv actresses in my generation, and can do just about anything. Yay! You *have* seen "Grease"! That movie is "The Ten Commandments", a massive epic about Exodus, starring Charlton Heston as Moses and Yul Brynner (!!) as Pharoah. That was Anne Baxter as Nefertiri. If you have seen "All About Eve", you have seen her as Eve. If you have seen "Magnificent Seven", you have see Brynner as the main one of the Seven. In our family, we joke that "Ten Commandments" is as long as it is because no one can say "Moses" only once. Julie Newmar was/is the envy of my five-foot self: she is tall, very tall, and has a natural sensual elegance. She was the original 1960s Catwoman in the "Batman" tv show (Eartha Kitt took her place when scheduling issues intervened, and no one can purr like Eartha Kitt). Newmar made a lovely Catwoman, and gave her a great, understated vulnerability.
