EARLY ACCESS: Half Blood Prince

EARLY ACCESS: Half Blood Prince

Comments

My favorite scene in Half-blood prince for some weird reason, is the slugclub Christmas party where Snape tells Potter that Dumbledore is away on holiday. When Harry asked where he went, Snape pauses as if contemplating whether he wanted to continue the conversation or not, decides..."nah" and just walks away...I laugh every time he does that. also, something Ive always been confused by...How did Harry not get punished for using that spell on Malfoy in the bathroom? I mean, Malfoy is literally out the rest of the movie until the end when you see him get up from the infirmary bed and let Bellatrix in the castle...there were plenty of witnesses?

Nooo - The placebo affect! he didn't actually put any in there

Unless you covered it in the full reaction I think you missed the twist about the luck potion with Ron? One of the best parts of the movie!

Ah. I had that experience with "Blade Runner". I thought the ending made it really clear who Deckard was, but had to argue with people until eventually it was "officially" stated. It may have been a reason for some of the multitude versions of the movie.

I agree that she would love Only the Lonely, but she's already seen a Maureen O'hara Movie, Miracle on 34th street

You find out in the book that Snape's mother was a pureblood with the last name "Prince," and she married a muggle with the last name "Snape." So when sorted into a highly pureblood community, he highlighted his magical family ancestry by readopting "Prince" as a name.

I figured it out first time reading the books, but still had to argue with people for like two years before the next book came out and proved me right.

I sure hope you meant "The Quiet Man" where you wrote "A Quiet Man". It's a John Wayne classic that I love so much I tracked down the Laserdisc version. (Laserdisc was a far-superior media that pre-dated DVD. Laserdisc was film-quality video, and DVD sucks.) Anyway, once folks see Maureen O'Hara in "The Quiet Man", perhaps you can put "Only The Lonely" back on a poll and it'll get more votes.

I think the bit that I love _most_ about this movie is that in the first movie, in Harry's very first Potions class, Snape teaches them about what a bezoar is, and that it will cure any poison. Then, six years later, Won-Won is poisoned, and Harry goes right to the Potions chest looking for the bezoar. And saves Ron. These movies are full of the links that redefine earlier scenes. Things that may have appeared unimportant are there because they are used later on. As I recall, J.K. Rowling would review the scripts, and tell them they had to keep certain bits from the book because they'd be important later. She wouldn't tell them why (and the books weren't all released yet), but they did it. So we get this amazing tapestry, woven from all the threads of the earlier movies. For my part, I always wanted Harry and Ginny to be together.

I always thought it was obvious, and when Harry and Hermione can't work it out, it really bugged me.

N1nth Sh4dow

Wow. That's awesome. Great job, dad!

ok i need to know when are you doing dr strangelove i need to know !!!

The sea cave is at the cliffs of Mohr in Ireland. I’ve been there a few times. Last time we were going to take a ferry that was supposed to get close to the cave and then go to the Arran islands. However the sea was too choppy to safely get near the cliffs so we went straight to the islands and let me tell you, I have never seen so many people vomit in one place before. It was nuts. One lady puked in her purse. A dude did it off the side. It was pretty close to that scene in Stand by Me. Anyway, on another note: the actors that play madam Pomfrey and professor Slughorn also played Bridget Jones’ parents in Bridget Jones’ Diary.

I cant wait for it to all come together for Ashleigh!

If you liked Luna Lovegood, you would enjoy the story behind the actress who played her, Evanna Lynch. Before she became an actress, she dealt with serious eating disorder. She was also a massive Harry Potter fan. She said reading the books were the thing that kept her strong through her battle with Anorexia. When she auditioned for the role, the producer David Heyman said "The others could play Luna; Evanna Lynch IS Luna."

I know I've seen it before but I don't remember any of these past the 3rd film.

Girrrrrl you don’t know how overjoyed I was when you put 2 and 2 together regarding Sirius’ brother! No other reactors made the connection and I’ve watched a BUNCH of em! 50 points to Gryffindor!

I heartily agree with an audible book. On long car trips, music actually makes me drowsy, but I stay alert when listening to a book. I've never listened to a book I haven't read, so I don't know if it would distract me too much from my driving, or the driving would cause me to lose track on the book. Give them a try. See if it works for you or not. I'm going to say this about the Harry Potter series. Never trust what you think from what you've seen, but at end, you'll understand all the clues that actually meant something. Either way, I really enjoyed the books and the movies. And I'll say that very rarely have I liked a movie adapted from a book. But I enjoyed all of these immensely. I may have mentioned this before, but my ex-wife was opposed to the Harry Potter books because of "witch-craft". I knew they were popular so I decided to read them myself and see if they were good or not. And they were. My kids happened to be the right age at the time and every night before bed, we'd sit around the kitchen table, I'd make hot chocolate and S'mores, light an oil lamp and turn off the other lights. And then I'd read a chapter. They loved it. They'd remind me if I was starting late and they'd turn off the TV. I was able to complete a book before the movie came out so they had that first. Throughout the entire series. It was magical for me, and for them. And all of them became avid readers. And a lover of hardcover books, not Kindle, not paperbacks. Hard covers. I am so proud of them.
