WATCH ALONG: Harry Potter

HOLY FUCK YALL. I am so so so sorry. I didn't realize I didn't share this at all.

I'm also still working on the theatrical watch along for chamber of secrets - the only thing is some of the added scenes are so short I'm having trouble lining it up well.

WATCH ALONG: Harry Potter

Comments

I asked her about the theatrical version edit of the watch along for Chamber of Secrets. She replied: So I was going to do that but then when I started editing - the differences are so hard to cut that it would have been nearly impossible. So moving forward I will ONLY be watching theatrical cuts of the movies. I'm sorry :(

Soooo, I was just getting ready to do that cold day binge Lynetta mentioned but this watch along isn't the first movie. Edit: Found the first one and the link to the theatrical version (yay)...now I'm on the hunt for the watch along for Chamber of Secrets (theatrical version).....help!

CinWin

I really enjoyed hearing you say " Y'all all are"

Stop whatever else your doing and keep watching potterverse movies! Need my Ash reacts to movie 4 asap!

Yeah, Hermione was already stressed because of her extreme class workload (that she was only able to do by time traveling) as well as all the typical plot-related stuff, and then she's stuck in this dumb class where the teacher is just a charlatan wasting her time, so she finally reaches her limit.

I have NEVER thought about them going to Lupin to make sure he takes his potion so not to turn into a werewolf! They could have captured Peter…and cleared Sirius’s name. Although Buckbeak would have been killed.

Love your sultry look into the camera in the thumbnail, Ashleigh! Sexy.

I was hoping you hadnt forgot about the full length watch along. Lol To answer your time travel question: no. If the Harry that had gone back in time had died, the past Harry would not have died as well. "Time-travel Harry" is "Past Harry's" future. Now had he not registered he was the one to conjure up the Stag Patronus and then act, "Past Harry" would have most likely died to the Dementors, which would then also kill "Time-travel Harry" and then we have a paradox on our hands. Also, the Firebolt was sent by Sirius, not Hagrid. That's why it had a big feather packaged with it. Sirius used a feather from Buckbeak as a means to hide who the sender was, but signal to Harry it was him. Always fun to watch along with you Ashleigh.😊😁 Glad you enjoyed it. Looking forward to watching the rest with you.

Harry Potter is great Holiday/Christmas time viewing. There’s something very cozy about them.

So glad you are reacting to these, Ashleigh! Harry will be going back to the Dursleys. There is a reason but perhaps that’s best revealed later (I wouldn’t be surprised if someone else here wanted to tell you or the YouTube folks do). And yes, that’s a new actor (Michael Gambon) playing Dumbledore. Sadly, the original actor (Richard Harris) passed away.

I'm saving these until the cold winter months when I'm in need of some Harry Potter binge watching. I'm very much looking forward to watching along to all of these! I'm also hoping to convince a friend who has only seen the first movie to do the watch alongs with me for her first viewings of the other movies.

I'm sure there will be plenty of wonderful comments about The Marauders, animagi and relevant Potter lore, so let me say a couple of things about divination. Witches and wizards who were born with the rare natural gift for prophecy were known as Seers, who cold foresee the future with their Inner Eye. Non-Seers could learn divination methods and gain various insights with them, but their success varied. Divination was taught as an elective subject from the third year on at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Learned wizards and witches seemed to regard the practice of divination with skepticism. Hermione Granger once described it as "woolly" and "a lot of guesswork," Minerva McGonagall thought it was "one of the most imprecise branches of magic," and before he decided to take on Sybill Trelawney as Divination professor at Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore was inclined to scrap the subject altogether. The books, more than the films, rightly treats divination as a bit of a sham. Not so with true Seers... Hermione acted out in divination class because she thought the subject was frustrating. It goes against some of the things she values most: logic, skill and learning. She is a skeptic and does not believe in divination. There is clear evidence in the books that professor Trelawney is fortune-telling out of her ass. Author Rowling herself said: "By the law of averages, Professor Trelawney’s rapid fire predictions sometimes hit the mark, but most of the time she is full of hot air and self-importance." Oh, and the next film in the series is my favourite. Can't wait. 😊

BTW thanks so much for putting in a timer on the screen. It really helps getting the audio synced.

We knew you'd figure it out eventually 😀
