EARLY ACCESS: Fast Times at Ridgemont High

EARLY ACCESS: Fast Times at Ridgemont High

That's because it's age restricted.

Echo

It's such a defining 90s movie, and I'm new here, so I thought only the 80s was allowed, but I hope it makes the polls one day. (But also, Almost Famous is amazing too, and since Ashleigh stayed on a famous tour bus recently, it reminded me...)

Lola Lirola

Yes, I know!! One of my favorites. I actually rewatched it recently, and it has become an incredible time capsule. Matt Dillon's character was based on, and initially was supposed to be played by, Chris Cornell, but he was not a great actor. Still, he makes a cameo in it that is now heartbreaking to see.

Lola Lirola

Singles is one I would like to see. Matt Dillon fronts a grunge ban in Seattle just before grunge took off. In fact, the rest of his band in the movie is actually Pearl Jam.

Curtis Martin

I guess I'll miss this one. It requires a YouTube account, and I don't have (nor wish to have) one.

Now we've found Cameron Crowe's work, can I recommend Almost Famous? Such a great rock and roll movie!!

Lola Lirola

I love Matthew McConaughey in Dazed and Confused. The cars in it are great......the clothes....are accurate....but ugly.... Hopefully, Ashleigh get the chance to see it one day.

"That's what I love about High school girls. I get older and they stay the same age". One of the creepiest lines I've ever heard. Love Dazed and Confused. I graduated in 74 which is 3 years before D&C took place. This depiction of high school is so what my high school years was like.

Bill Bevins

FINALLY!!!! My 14 yr old daughter just bought a pair of checkered Vans today. Sean Penn is the reason we even know what Vans are. Read the book by cameron Crowe!

Adam Sanford

Kind of a hidden joke: "Play side one of Led Zeppelin 4." The song that was playing ("Kashmir") was on Zeppelin's "Physical Graffiti" album. Pretty much only high school Zep-heads like me were like, "Oh damn, dude is so clueless."

Chris Starke

Am I the only one to catch that Ashleigh let it slip out (no pun intended) that she swallows? LOL :-0

Tom Castro

Oh didn't realize it was a whole year thought it was like a month or 2.

Elisa H.

An entire school year. The writer was Cameron Crowe

Curtis Martin

A fun reaction to a fun movie...as someone who went to high school in the 80's(and ran with a very wild crowd lol) I can attest this movie is pretty dead on...Mike's car was an AMC Gremlin I can remember my mom briefly owning one in the 70's...as I recall the "feather hair thingies" were attached to roach clips...another nostalgic teen ensemble comedy I think you would like is "Dazed and Confused" which is set in 1976 Austin, Texas(and has a killer Classic Rock soundtrack)...hopefully you will get to it someday

Paul Johnson

Another fun teen movie where almost everyone in it becomes famous later in life is The Hollywood Knights (1980). The punch scene is great, lots of dirty laughs. I liked it a lot more than American Graffiti.

Jack Jones

-Spicoli, the drug addled teen is Sean Penn, he married Madona ... for a while. -Phoebe Cates getting out of the pool and taking her top off is iconic. -Almost every actor/actress in this later has some form of success or even became a star.

Jack Jones

Before schools had Xerox machines they made copies on mimeograph machines and the ink had a very distinctive smell. Sniffing the paper was something everyone did and I remember doing it many times myself.

Pam Nail

Totally awesome!!

Richard LaMance

this is the movie that the writer went undercover in a high school for a little bit to observe actual high schoolers right?

Elisa H.

Dazed and Confused is so much better than this movie. The cast is better too. Glad Ashleigh is getting this one out of the way.
