EARLY ACCESS: Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

Comments

I haven't seen anyone else mention it, so a lot of the cartoons were Warner Brothers or Disney cartoons, but there were also lots that were just invented for the movie.

Kevin Mowery

Good idea. It would work pretty well for the non-scary days of Hallowbeans.

Mike Lemon

I'm hoping rear window makes a poll appearance someday

Mark Finley

Yes, Teen Wolf!! But I wonder if that would be a movie to save for Hallowbeans.

Kelly Marie

@zeyguy, a fair argument could be made. I would argue for Magnolia as he was prominent in a true ensemble piece and overall it was a far bigger (more successful) movie. Hell, with the length of it he may very well have as much screen time in it as he did in Hard Eight ;)

Kenton Kruger

Better yet would be Hard Eight, where he had a starring role.

So, is a Teen Wolf (1985) coming soon? Then all the t-shirt characters would have a reaction.

Mike Lemon

I figured she would likely be unfamiliar with most of the secondary classic toons, but even without any the name characters this would still be a fantastic film. The cameos are just a great added bonus.

Kenton Kruger

@Curtis. I fully agree, though I'd argue a place for Baker Hall. Guy had 185 acting credits to his name almost evenly split between TV and movies. Everybody knows him from something.

Kenton Kruger

You should watch The Patriot (Mel Gibson) for 4th of July.

David Crabtree

I think we need to limit this RIP thing to major stars. Either that, or Ashleigh ads another movie each week - RIP Wednesday - or something.

Curtis Martin

My choice would be Magnolia, it's one of his larger, more central roles.

Kenton Kruger

Philip Baker Hall died. He was a great character actor. Ashleigh should see Air Force One, The Truman Show, The Sum of all Fears, Bruce Almighty, Zodiac, or Argo.

Meredith Shivers

"I already got a stiff on my hands" - he's referring to Marvin Acme's dead body. Not what you were thinking of. 😂

Lynnetta

Ashleigh really should do polls by decades, Harvey is great for the 40s. It is one of Jimmy Stewart's best!

Meredith Shivers

Ashleigh, Mae Questel (the actress who voiced Betty Boop) was Aunt Bethany in NL's Christmas Vacation!

Jacob Colson

Aw, man. I so wish Ashleigh would watch Harvey. Just a great flick and she would have gotten the joke better.

Snow Goon

This was a fun watch-along. So glad she liked it. As much as I enjoy this film, I must say that my favorite live-action/animation hybrid movie is Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Some other fun, family movies from the 80s and 90s: Hook, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, The Sandlot, Dennis the Menace, Return to Oz, and The Dark Crystal.

Kelly Marie

There is a tunnel in Pittsburgh that feels like the tunnel into Toon Town. I always love driving through that tunnel :)

Lynnetta

Yes! The Toons WERE being discriminated against. In fact "Toon Town" is a thinly disguised play on the term (forgive me,, this is gross) "Coon Town" (ugh - takes shower). In real life, there was a conspiracy between the tire, gas, bus and car companies to buy up all the local rail systems - including the Red Cars in Los Angeles - and build freeways. You asked why Toon Town had to be destroyed and the truth is that urban planners intentionally designed freeways in many places to isolate or eliminate minority neighborhoods. Judge Doom was really GM, Goodyear and others! This movie works on so many levels! Also, if you have Disney +, there is an episode of a series called "Prop Culture" on WFRR that is fascinating.
