EARLY ACCESS: Willow

If "The Never-ending Story" magic met the practical effects of American Werewolf in London.

 IMPORTANT TIME STAMPS:
preview review starts: 00:35 - 2:19
Watch With Me: 2:34
My Review: 25:03

Also - I've gotten questions as to why I watched this and not Spinal Tap since it has more votes.  When I started filming these, Spinal Tap was not ahead and I just forgot to close the poll. Spinal Tap will be making an appearance on more polls, don't worry! :)

EARLY ACCESS: Willow

Comments

Now that you've seen Willow, you need to see the movies made from the books that inspired it - Lord of the Rings. To compare the two, think of a vending machine chicken salad sandwich (Willow) vs. the best meal you've eaten at the best restaurant you've been to (LotR).

Yea that pig scene scared the bejeezus out of me when I was a kid.

Not sure if Ashleigh would enjoy either Excalibur or Conan the Barbarian, but I hope both eventually cross through on the channel.

Kenton Kruger

Willow, labyrinth, the neverending story. all that's missing is Legend and i think those are the big fantasy movies of my childhood all done

Elisa H.

For Val Kilmer and getting it, and also one of my favorite female love interests in an '80s film (on par with Diane Franklin as Monique in Better Off Dead), you have *got* to see Real Genius.

Kevin Mowery

Warwick Davis (Willow) was just 17 when this was filmed. He was so good as a dad, even as a teen.

Jill Peterson

Swords and sorcery movies were huge in the 80s.

Jack Jones

Cool that you’re wearing a Cher shirt since she and Val Kilmer had a long dating history. Even after their relationship ended, they are still extremely close as friends. He even lived with her after money issues and when he first got sick.

Christy

I'm surprised no one has suggested "Krull" that's one of my favorite classic 80's fantasy flicks.

Yahouti

Good Stuff!!!

I hadn’t seen this movie since it came out in the theaters, but I remember loving it as a kid. Rewatching it now with you makes me realize that my love of it probably came from my massive crush on Val Kilmer (which is why I begged my parents to take me to see it in the first place). I enjoyed the watch along but I agree with you on the 3 stars and your reasons for that. One thing that did stand the test of time in this is Val. That man never fails to make my heart flutter when he smiles. Or speaks. Or looks into the camera. Or just breathes.

Kel

You need to watch Legend with Tom Cruise
