Actually, not to bust a cherished urban legend, that only happened once, and over a misunderstanding: Goulet in Las Vegas needed a fill-in backup singer, and Elvis’ entourage lent him one of theirs for his act. Elvis hadn’t been informed, and when Goulet later called saying “Thanks for the girl!”, he got the wrong idea.

Again, if you think this is “top tier humor”—and really, why does a generation think that? 🤔—you need, and I do mean NEED, to look up the short-lived “Police Squad” TV series the movies were taken from, and at least half the gags (like the Egyptian chalk-outline) in the second movie were taken from. TV didn’t have the budget for epic pratfalls in widescreen, and, coming right off of Airplane, stuck to the traditional style of old genre (60’s cop show)parody, and bad Oh-Stop puns.

An oddly subtle (fro this film) in-joke is the film's relationship between Elvis's ex-wife, Priscilla, and Robert Goulet. Elvis's least favorite singer! According to legend, Elvis would grab his pistol and shoot out his TV screen whenever Goulet was on a TV show.

Great reaction...a couple of shout outs to the supporting players...Jacqueline Brookes who replaced Nancy Marchand in the "Commissioner" role appeared in 2 early 80's paranormal type horror films: "Ghost Story"(1981) and "The Entity"(1982) and Peter Mark Richman who played Mr. Dunwell head of "KABOOM" was a prolific film/ (and especially)TV actor who worked steadily from the 50's well into the 2000s
