2021-10-01 16:05:44 +0000 UTCSeconding the 1969 "Night of the Living Dead" and "Bram Stoker's Dracula" for other Hallobeans movies, but "Death Becomes Her" for this one.

2021-10-01 16:03:46 +0000 UTCYeah, I haven't, and probably won't.
Theadora
2021-10-01 16:01:31 +0000 UTCI can't either. I did watch the 1969 "Night Of The Living Dead" and "Sean of the Dead", and those are my absolute max.
Theadora
2021-10-01 16:01:04 +0000 UTCSlither is good, but for me it's been mostly downhill from there. Super is probably the most I've liked him since, but it has that very weird, kinda inexplicable scene where Elliot Page's character basically [redacted for spoilers] Rainn Wilson's character. Guardians of the Galaxy is fine, but Vol. 2 is not only my least-favorite MCU film, but one of my least-favorite films of that year and that decade. The Suicide Squad was an improvement on GotGv2, but the movie's irony and love of gore as a punchline definitely wore thin on me after awhile.

2021-09-30 16:15:23 +0000 UTCYou do understand why the slots are limited, because you've been told, and it should be pretty obvious: only four Fridays in a month. Not very complicated. Not to mention you are commenting on a post where you get to help choose...
Tyler Foster
2021-09-30 16:10:11 +0000 UTC...what is so bad about James Gunn? I've liked his stuff ever since "Slither". I don't think he's put out a single bum film, which is sadly more than I can say for Peter Jackson post-LOTR (although I did LOVE "King Kong"). :-(
Matt Blanchette
2021-09-30 12:26:35 +0000 UTC"The Other" is such a good one.
Matt Blanchette
2021-09-30 12:24:01 +0000 UTCDon't understand why the slots were so limited, though. :-/ Isn't the whole point of being a Patron that you pay to help choose?

2021-09-30 12:16:50 +0000 UTCAshleigh nightvision for "The Night of the Hunter" would go awesomely, I think. :-)

2021-09-30 12:15:15 +0000 UTCI enjoyed all of them. 28 days is definitely in a different category than the other 3 though.

2021-09-27 15:33:39 +0000 UTCHallobeans recommendations: Rear Window (original 1954, not the remake), The Silence of the Lambs, Se7en, The Night of the Hunter, Pan's Labyrinth, Night of the Living Dead, They Live, Rosemary's Baby, Evil Dead '81, Evil Dead 2013, Evil Dead 2, Bram Stoker's Dracula, the Cabin in the Woods, What We Do in the Shadows (movie, not show), The Sixth Sense

2021-09-26 14:46:25 +0000 UTCI voted for Death Becomes Her but I would LOVE to see you watch Frighteners as well. It is a tough call between the two. DBH is really fun and campy but Frighteners has that perfect blend of horror and comedy that I KNOW you like. Just some info, in case it helps: Frighteners stars Michael J Fox and it was directed by Peter Jackson who has directed MANY movies you would love, with a score by Danny Elfman who, among a million other movies, has scored almost every single Tim Burton film. Death Becomes Her is more of a modern sort of dark, funny, fantasy fairy tale starring Bruce Willis, Meryl Street, Goldie Hawn, and features an actress named Isabella Rossilini (at the time, she was the most beautiful woman working in Hollywood, you would know her mother from Casablanca. She played Ilsa. It was directed by Robert Zemeki and scored by Alan Silvestri, both from the Back to the Future films. They are both fun movies and I hope to see you watch both.

2021-09-26 05:25:05 +0000 UTCI know you're doing a vote, but 'Frighteners' is such an underseen film. It's fun but tense, it's early Peter Jackson before he did Lord of the Rings (and one reason I was glad he got that job). However the vote comes out, I hope you try to work it into the month.

2021-09-26 00:53:40 +0000 UTCCan't handle? What is there not to be able to handle in this movie? It's as scary as an episode of Scooby-Doo. Which makes it 10 times scarier than "Death Becomes Her". So, not really saying a lot for either movie.

2021-09-23 04:03:06 +0000 UTCIm sorry I feel that the subject matter has a certain poe/ twilight zone/ treehouse of horrors themes to it that I feel fit it right into October, also the simple aesthetic of the film. 2021-09-22 22:42:14 +0000 UTCAbsolutely...I'm not crazy about the rest of Shyamalan's oeuvre but "Sixth Sense" is a masterpiece...featuring some tremendous acting performances(Toni Collette and Haley Joel Osment deserved Oscars just for the "accident" scene alone) and some truly eerie and terrifying paranormal scenes

2021-09-22 13:40:15 +0000 UTCWhile I do enjoy Death Becomes Her, it really is not a Halloween movie. My vote goes to Monster Squad, a fun film that would fit in on a Wednesday review. I haven't seen it mentioned but a forgotten classic is Night of the Creeps. A fun throwback to a 50's movie with plenty of laughs to balance out the horror.
Cristina Collins-Armstrong
2021-09-22 12:43:35 +0000 UTCIf you look at halobeans last year literally half of it was goofy comedies appropriately spooky themed and death becomes her definitely falls into that category

2021-09-22 11:49:03 +0000 UTCI cannot wait to see you react to the gloriousness that is Death Becomes Her. Such a treat! One of the first movies I saw as a young gal that got me into spooky films — while it’s not exactly a horror movie, it is full of campy fun body horror, so there’s that… Any chance Trick ‘r Treat is on this year’s Hallobeans docket? 👀🤞🏼

2021-09-22 01:08:02 +0000 UTCI'm not sure why 'Death Becomes Her' is on this list. It's a shame , too, because some really scary, well written movies are going to lose to it, and it doesn't even qualify as a Hallow-beans movie. The two best ones are 'Frighteners' and '28 Days Later'. Ashleigh, do not toss away those two films. I promise you, you will enjoy them, especially Frighteners because it is similar to 'Shaun of the Dead' humor.

2021-09-21 20:09:31 +0000 UTCProbably, but after watching [SPOILER: Frankenstein holding a teddy bear], I think most real Universal fans would be cringing at the 80’s B-tier-Goonies shenanigans. 2021-09-21 18:44:50 +0000 UTCDeath Becomes Her is NOT a horror film, so of course it's winning the the poll. I see so many reactors doing this lately, it's becoming a pet peeve. If you have a genre poll, please, for the love of God, only put films that are actually in that genre in the poll. Thank you.
Richard Maurer
2021-09-21 18:25:49 +0000 UTCDeath Becomes Her is not a Hallobeans horror film. It's a goofy Robert Zemeckis comedy SO misogynistic, it's been adopted by gay audiences who giggle over any movie where Meryl Streep has to do something embarrassing (qv. Mamma Mia). And since my $5 went unread in the last Unboxing, I’ll repeat it here: You have a Vincent Price box. It contains “The Abominable Dr. Phibes”. Hallobeans is coming….USE IT.

2021-09-21 15:19:27 +0000 UTCLove these choices. Has Ashleigh also seen Rocky Horror Picture Show? Cuz she seemed not to know Susan Sarandon when watching Witches of Eastwick. I think that needs to be watched, if she hasn't seen it already.
Kinard Montgomery
2021-09-21 15:18:33 +0000 UTCDeath becomes her is more of a comedy than horror, sort of like ghostbusters and beetlejuice. 28 days later is really the only true horror film in the lot. The frighteners does a good job of balancing horror and comedy. Never seen monster squad so can’t give an opinion on that.
