EARLY ACCESS: Witches of Eastwick

Comments

@Matt Sure, I just hope you're aware you're in the same boat as 100 other people. You're definitely not the only one hoping a slot opens up.

Tyler Foster

I hear ya Matt...I've suggested term limits for the MMM tier and also the idea of PO box pix has been floated...or maybe even a once a month raffle for a pick who knows? Other than the "Kill Bill"(s) it's been slim pickings for me as of late...Thank God for Hallobeans

Paul Johnson

One of Boris Karloff's more overlooked appearances

Paul Johnson

For the list sometime: “First Wives Club”

Luis Torrefranca

Fellow Noho-ite, living in Paradise: Which restaurant?

Eric Janssen

@Tyler, I just wish there were enough weeks in a month, honestly. :-( That's it. I'd happily pay $100 to be, like, part of a rotating slot, or something. Not monthly, I guess, but every two or three months, maybe, because I wouldn't want to jump anyone in queue who'd already made a pick and paid.

Matt Blanchette

The '31 version, just for the hell of it. :-D

Matt Blanchette

I'll be the one to make her watch "Good Times"! :-D

Matt Blanchette

You forgot "The Princess Bride". :-P

Matt Blanchette

Her ex husband Chris Sarandon is also a talented character actor with memorable performances in "Dog Day Afternoon"(1975), "Lipstick"(1976), "The Sentinel"(1977 a VERY scary flick which would make for an awesome Hallobeans reaction) and of course his arguably most famous role, that of Jerry Dandridge in "Fright Night"(1985 another great Hallobeans candidate)...

Paul Johnson

Interesting(?) side note: The owner of my (now former, RIP) favorite restaurant in Northampton, MA is Susan's brother. Sweetest, most gracious dude ever. Hoping he opens a new restaurant after the smoke clears. Speaking of smoke, the smoked chicken wings at his place were TO DIE FOR.

Chris Starke

Susan Sarandon (suh-RAN-dun) has been in so many films, many critically acclaimed. First role I ever saw her in was "Janet" in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which I believe I've suggested as a watch for you.

Chris Starke

Basically, because Ash liked Cher in anything, so now someone’s going to try and make her watch Suspect, Burlesque and Silkwood. Not me, though.

Eric Janssen

I’m frigging psychic…yesterday I’m like Ashley should watch Witches of east wick! And today…I had no idea you had

Brett Delbridge

Guys, I LOVE the Jack Nicholson train we're on, I have suggested "As good as it gets". But... who's gonna point Ashleigh in the Robin Williams direction?!! Mrs. Doubtfire! Good morning Vietnam! Patch Adams! Hook! 🙋🏻‍♀️🥰 Come on y'all! 😄

Amanda Perkins

My reaction was so close to yours, except for every time you said “This is so good!”, I was saying “This is so bad.” For every time you said “Why don’t more people talk about this movie.” I was saying, “Why would anyone ever suggest this movie?” 🤣🤣🤣 P.S. You kept mentioning Sigourney Weaver and even referenced Alien, but I don’t think you put together that broken leg lady was Veronica Cartwright from Alien.

Heather Qualy

Damn, it would have been sooo funny if those women had been talking about her socks and heels behind her back.

Joe Blankenship

My experience seeing it when it first came out was not quite the same. I didn't find it confusing, and loved it. There were some of the special effects choices I questioned, but it was the 80's.

Eric Schuh

That would clash with most of the fans’ requests of “Watch it NOW! Watch it NOW!!”

Eric Janssen

So, “Confused, but…..liked it, because Cher was in it.” Okay, that wasn’t MOST of our reactions when this was in theaters: We walked in saying, “Cher does witchcraft?…We’re in. Jack as the devil?… So there. 😎 “, and then spent the next two hours going “WHAT the freakin’……??” (It reportedly became infamous as a mess of 80’s Hollywood shenanigans with the producers, who kept changing the directorial tone every week.) And even then, I’m guessing whoever recommended said “Oh, you”ll love Cher AND the cherry -pit scene!”, which most of its fans cult over because they can’t make blessed head or tail of it either. At least we got a good John Williams score out of it.

Eric Janssen

I'm so glad you loved this! Seriously though, the cherry pit scene makes me gag every time. Whoa. The book is by John Updike and even better than the movie. They did a great job with the screenplay though, in my opinion.

Louise Brooks

A couple of other great Price films are "House on Haunted Hill"(a very fun movie IMHO) and "The Abominable Dr. Phibes"...also big yes to the original "The Haunting" avoid the remake at all costs though it is confusing headache inducing dreck I remember walking out of the theater halfway through it

Paul Johnson

Scarface

Paul Johnson

I wonder if she'll spot her in "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"

Paul Johnson

Saugus guy here(although I lived by Revere Beach for 15 years)...North Shore rules! :)

Paul Johnson

@Tyler and mark, Matthew has been making these sorts of posts for the last couple of weeks now. Most of the time in conversations that have nothing to do with MMM slots. I have tried to figure out where he is coming from with this but have gotten nowhere. I think he is just trolling. For a point of reference check out the madness of his post six spots below this.😕😑😕

Mark Sylvester

Not sure I understand the logic of learning that she was obligated to do an MMM pick before watching KBv2 logically means she should add more MMM picks. That would make LESS time to watch KBv2!

Tyler Foster

This is a movie I was too young for when it came out and it just fell off my radar. Glad to share a first time watch! No, Jack Nicholson does not do normal. Or very rarely. He just goes manic big ALL the time. If you want somewhat subdued, try A Few Good Men. Cher had such a hot streak in the late 80s between Moonstruck, this, Mask and Mermaids. Really amazing to look back. I think aside from the Mamma Mia sequel, I haven’t seen her in anything in a while, but she’s usually good. Funny story, my high school history and civics teacher also taught Michelle Pfeiffer. Remembered her being attentive, but quiet. As for Michelle… probably famous for Fabulous Baker Boys, this and Batman Returns, although she has done a TON. What Lies Beneath, The Story of Us, voice over for The Prince of Egypt, so much. Oh, and you may not know it yet but… she’s in something in the future for the channel. Susan Sarandon… I tend to remember her more for later stuff. Dead Man Walking, Stepmom, Little Women, lots of stuff. She’s… kinda divisive these days for political reasons, but hard to not call her a good actress. Fun time watching, even if cherry vomit is not. Can’t wait for what’s next.

Matthew Periolat

there is only so many fridays in a month

Mark Finley

I think Wizard of Oz should be a Thanksgiving week movie if you have indeed not seen it. From 1956-1991 it was regularly shown on network TV, most often during Thanksgiving.

Paul Krueger

Watch Mermaids with Cher and Winnona Ryder

Leigh Nathaniel Silver

She should probably open more MMM slots, then.

Matt Blanchette

This movie has Ashleigh written all over it, I knew you'd love it!

Michael Waldrep

Fun reaction! Now Imma need you to go ahead and watch the 1998 movie "Practical Magic" with Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, mkay thx. 😊

Laura Neary Smith

I saw this movie when I was a kid. But hadn’t seen it in years. The cherry vomiting was the biggest thing I remembered. Lol yes this movie was huge when it came out and very popular but as time went on it seems to have been forgotten a little bit. Should definitely get a resurgence.

stephen phillips

Not if he can help it.

Mark Sylvester

She couldn't do it for a Friday. She had to do a MMM pick.

Mark Sylvester

I would love love love to see you react to Stardust (also with Michelle Pfeiffer) - one of my all-time favorite movies!

Keri Parmeter

Not able to watch this yet but my little sticky note drawing on the DVD should make more sense now. 😉

Tyler Foster

Kinda surprised you didn't go immediately into Kill Bill Part 2

Nicholas & Heather

I’m so happy you love this film. Made my day. X

I've never been into this movie (not sure why, because I love all the major cast in it), but I love your reactions, so I watched the Youtube cut, and your reaction to it is great. I agree about Jack Nicholson. He's not what anyone would think of as conventionally handsome or sexy, but he just has this magnetism about him, where he can somehow MAKE himself sexy. It's so weird. I've never seen another man who does sexy the way he can. I don't know how he does it. It's like a superpower or something. After seeing this reaction, I have to agree with the recommendation that you watch Mask for another Cher pick. Also, if you want to see more of Jack, you really should check out Wolf. You might find it a little cheesy, but Jack Nicholson and and Michelle Pheiffer are both great in it and more than make up for any of the bad. DON"T look up anything from the film, though, not even the poster, because it might spoil some aspects of what the movie is. Oh, and for a Hallowbeans pick, I'd recommend The Devil's Advocate. I don't believe anyone from this movie is in it, but it's a very creepy, well done film that I think you might like.

Raven Dark

It is not underrated. It was widely talked about and highly rated back in the day. Ease up on your praise of Cher. I think that she is an outstanding entertainer, but look at her history with her son she had with Gregg Allman. It will bring you back down to earth. https://www.who.com.au/cher-children

John Williams

Bwahahaha...

Rebecca Monk

Ashleigh: "Does Jack Nicholson ever play a normal person?" About Schmidt: Hold my beer.

John Williams

OMG! OMG! OMG! You FINALLY watched this! Looking forward to seeing this vid.

Rebecca Monk

Suggestions for Hallowbeans: The Others, The Omen, Night of the Living Dead, The Haunting (63), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (78), Them, Child's Play, King Kong (33) and two of my favorite Vincent Price movies, House of Wax and The Pit and the Pendulum.

Bill Bevins

Rocky Horror Picture show Grease 2

Eric Greenwood

Am surprised you didnt recognise Lambert from the first aliens,, the woman called Felicia Alden, was lambert in that movie, Susan Sarandon Rocky Horror Picture show and Thelma and Louise

Eric Greenwood

I could not eat cherries for a while after first seeing this movie. Cher, Michelle Pfeiffer ans Susan Sarandon are all so hot in this movie. Jack Nicholson was at his crazy best. For another good Nicholson performance watch A Few Good Men. Cher really gave a great performance in Mask (not to be confused with the Jim Carrey comedy). Michelle Pfeiffer was great as Catwoman in the Batman movie. Susan Sarandon movies you should watch include Thelma and Louise and Field of Dreams.

Bill Bevins

Ipswich!!!! Oh The Covenant. Sabastian Stan!!!

Kathy Carter

This was made in my neck of the woods, that big mansion is the crane estate in Ipswich Massachusetts, it's a public park with beaches if you'd ever want to visit

ingibingi2000

For Hallobeans this year Mel Brook’s High Anxiety and Tucker and Dale vs Evil have to make the list!
