EARLY ACCESS: Police Academy

Comments

Yep, that's what I was coming to say. Ashleigh remembers here from Big Trouble in Little China, which she didn't watch all that long ago.

Travis Starnes

He must be looking in the wrong place: N for National Lampoon's Animal House, not A.

Tyler Foster

This was a fun reaction! Now I have to request Police Academy 2! :D

Tom Evans

Although, once lettuced, the setup instruction manual for a True Value aluminum stepladder can be hysterically funny. 🙄 The question is whether a good comedy can be funny by ITSELF.

Eric Janssen

However, your right with part 7... that one is one of the worst movies ever made. Probably the most unfunny "comedy" I've ever seen. I honestly laughed more while watching "Schindler's List".

Manuel Johnen

Think Tyler had better update--YouTube fans saw her get four copies in ONE unboxing, IIRC. (Remember "Wait, isn't it that book we read in high school, about the Communist pigs?"). It was one of the impeti for creating the reference list in the first place.

Eric Janssen

📨 PO Box 3303 Knoxville, TN 37927 but i would check the latest post to see if she has got the dvd's already

Eric Greenwood

Yea I think I saw this at cinema and some of the others also The guy that makes the noises is in a cheech and Chong movie next movie I think it's called that is funny Even more on devils lettuce I saw it first after lettuce and was cracked up

john shepherd

This is me from 25 years ago lol

Brett Delbridge

Are you insane...? It get's painful after part 4... :/

Manuel Johnen

These are hilarious and your reactions are Epic I'm new to pay triode is there a PO box or something where we can send you movies or anything

Animal house is not on her list....Ash you have to see this flick just for John Bulushi at his best!!!!

WEEZER MANN

One time when I visited family I watched all of the Police Academies over 2 days...love Bobcat Goldswait! If u can find it watch One Crazy Summer...early John Cusack and Demi Moore.

CoffeeloverJoel

You might mean that someone else chose it, but if not, Police Academy is rated R.

Tyler Foster

I love that you loved this movie. As a kid my friends and I watched these movies all the time. Here is my order of the police academy movies from best to worst 3,4,6,5,1,2.....7

Brett Delbridge

And whether it's the last good Steve Guttenberg movie depends on how you feel about "Short Circuit".

Eric Janssen

Yes, Police Academy is "reminiscent" of Stripes. But Stripes, Caddyshack and Meatballs were all deliberately "reminiscent" of those four or five copies of Animal House lying neglected on Ash's shelf. (And that's 70's humor, down-and-dirtier than this "80's humor" she speaks of...It was the decade of Blazing Saddles.)

Eric Janssen

The sequels literally wanted to be a running TV sitcom, with Wacky Catchphrases (yes, Officer Hooks gets to ritually shout "Don't move, dirtbag!" in EVERY SINGLE danged one of them), but thought they had too much theater potential to actually be an ABC spinoff sitcom. Rather like the British with their yearly "Carry On" comedies, only those were actually funny.

Eric Janssen

And it stinks. Mel Brooks, however, directed the '67 classic, and that's what she said we're getting.

Eric Janssen

So excited for this! I’ve been waiting for you to watch this one 🙂

Jose Rivera

There are two films called the Producers both by Mel Brooks. I prefer the 1967 one with Gene Wilder, but there is a 2005 one that is based on the Broadway Musical that was based on the 1967 film.

Wesley Eskildsen

Is anyone els having problems watching it it keeps telling me it’s privet But I can watch the watch along

Dylan

Most of those I would definitely agree with I believe she's already watched the lost boys

Matthew kahlig

That's Kim Cattrall she played in trouble in little China and the mannequin several others

Matthew kahlig

It's funny I was watching a video of him doing an insane Jimi Hendrix impression guitar and all...and the top comment was from someone who said they went to high school with him and he was doing it back then that he would do sirens and air horn noises and drive the school bus driver crazy lol

Paul Johnson

Steve Gutenberg is very good in this movie.

Richard LaMance

I’m glad you liked it! I saw this with my mom the day it came out. She has since passed, so it’s a fond memory of us laughing along to it.

Michael Waldrep

I will not let "High Spirits" being called a "good movie" pass uncommented...

Manuel Johnen

I think Ashleigh will enjoy the sequel.

Nicholas & Heather

Some other movies you should check out Porky's, Porkey's 2 The Next Day, Field Of Dreams, Cheech And Chong Up In Smoke, Weird Science, Dirty Dancing, The Terminator, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure, Speed, Top Gun, Footloose, Flashdance, Risky Business, The Lost Boys, Adventures In Babysitting, The Karate Kid, and Weekend At Bernie's.

Keith Boyd

The main girl in the movie is a young Kim Catreal. You might remember her from Sex IAnd The City. Also it was just announced that they are doing another SATC movie, but without her. There were longtime rumpus of backstage tensions between her and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Keith Boyd

I love how Tackleberry was the only one who didn't flinch when Barbara swung that shotgun past the cadets during shooting practice. He's the only one who realized that he hadn't racked another round into the chamber, so it was in no danger of firing.

Andy H.

Be fair, I was 12 on that date. It's not like I could have chosen an R rated movie ;)

Kenton Kruger

If you were wondering what Michael Winslow was up to now, he was on America's Got Talent last week. Here's the YouTube clip from his segment. https://youtu.be/WFPP8g-LlgQ

Andy H.

I thought Tackleberry was the best part of the movie. Also.,....wait for it......ROBOCOP

Timothy Estrada

That scene with the horse almost makes me piss myself each time... :P

Manuel Johnen

The prostitute was played by adult film actress Georgina Spelvin, star of the 1973 x-rated classic,”The Devil in Miss Jones”. Her career spanned over four decades. She’s in her 80s now.

Richard Stegman Jr.

If you want to see how far he can stretch his talents (and hear his regular voice), here's Michael Winslow performing Led Zeppelin with his mouth: https://youtu.be/1HHMA1Dpo5M

Tyler Foster

The first sequel is decent. After that, they descend into mediocrity at an alarming rate, the likes of which has possibly never been seen by mankind

Fred Zeppelin

The first of the series is the best one. I thought it was hilarious when I saw it. Other good comedies you should check out are Time Bandits, Animal House, Murder by Death, Up In Smoke and Strange Brew. Other good movies with Steve Guttenberg include Cocoon, Three Men and a Baby, Short Circuit and High Spirits.

Bill Bevins

Great reaction...it's been a while since I saw this one I did think the original was funny but the sequels got progressively worse...also wanted to give a shout out to G.W Bailey who played Lt. Harris loved him as Detective Louie Provenza on "The Closer" and "Major Crimes"...also Michael Winslow has a very funny scene in "Cheech and Chong's Next Movie"(actually probably the funniest scene in all of the C and C films) that has always cracked me up....have a blessed rest of Sunday Ashleigh!

Paul Johnson

that is a large man.

Ashleigh Burton

Hightower is played by Charles "Bubba" Smith. Prior to acting he was a professional football player from 1967-1976. He came in at 6 feet 7 inches.

Alexander Fish

I was an idiot and looked her up while I was editing and saw where she was in Big Trouble! I've never seen Sec and The City - but I knew she looked familiar!

Ashleigh Burton

Completey forgot that Kim Catrall was in this. She was in Big Trouble in Little China and played Samantha in Sex and the City.
